So, I was using my mousepad and I accidentaly(how do you spell that goddamn word?) locked it by swiping over something and now it's an orange light. What do?

There should be a button near the orange light, or near an image of something that lookes like a mini-trackpad (Edit: Or near the trackpad itself). Hit the button and you should be back in business.
If there's no button, yeah, make & model of lappy?
EDIT2: According to the user guide located here: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02659236.pdf
Quickly double tap the orange light itself.

Lol. Indeed.
Bad design on HP's part having something designed like that, so close to something you double-tap on a regular basis.
Edit: Also, it wasn't a stupid question. :p
I would have never guessed that's how you turn the trackpad on/off without looking at the user guide.
