View Full Version : Cramps from hell...

I think my cramps are trying to kill me. The only thing is, Advil or any sort of painkiller doesn't work or I am too wary to take more. I'm very cautious with drugs.

What are some ways that any of you know to make this curse better?

(Way to start off 2011 for me, Mother Nature... >.>)

I only use Tylenol or Midol. :/ But I know what you're saying, once my cramps got so bad in school, I had to excuse myself to the bathroom and cried crouching down in the stall for ten minutes.

Quickly googled some shit, this looks helpful;

The pain got so bad that while I was in the washroom, I kept thinking I was seeing smoke but there wasn't any. Ugh.

Thanks for the link!

Ugh I have terrible ones too. I can't eat or sleep :( I crouch over and moan and if there's anyone in the house I think I must freak them out a little :P
A hot water bottle can sometimes make it worse for me but team it up with panadol and it's like being in heaven :D

I actually just got the suggestion from a friend just to find something healthy to snack on and it made it a little better. Plus I'm finally off my feet for longer than five minutes.

Btw, Aoife, I love your name. Has always been one of my favourites. :)

I use a heating pad. I lie on my back with it under me until it gets warm, then flip over to my stomach. That helps.

Doing sit ups/crunches actually helps for me too.

I get really bad ones too, hot water bottles, long walks and a cold shower ease them up for me.

Try changing your diet to a bit healthier one, thats something my doc suggests. If you can walk around a bit with the cramps, you're definitely doing good. Better than most.

Stay strong hun, its only once a month for a week, and at least it means you know you're not preggers. :P

Lol! Thanks for all the advice. They've been easing for a bit since I've actually been off my feet and just relaxing. :)

if you got the insurence, try acupuncture. helps me with cramps and regulate! without taking the pill. but birth control is also suppose to work?

Try putting a beany bag thing (get from the pharmacy) and put it in the microwave for 2 mins, put it on your tummy.
Should do the trick, does for me ^^

I started BCP (for a whole different reason then cramps) and have come to find out that they really do help cramps. I never really thought about taking BCP in order to help cramps but after I did I realized it helps a lot.

Heat. Take a hot bath or buy a heating pad. Once mine got really bad and my school sent me to the ER to get a shot of some kind of pain killer. I also got a prescription for a mega-uber dose of naproxen, which is your basic pain medicine. I take it twice a day on my period.
