So me and my best friend (but we call each other brothers) say 'I love you' to each other a lot. Were both Straight and all and hes got a gf.
I was just wondering if this is normal?

If girls can do it with eachother, and they're straight, of course it's normal for guys to do it! They just don't feel like doing it, cause then they could feel emasculated.

I have a friend like that, im gay, he's straight. He knows i dont like him like that, and its no one elses business.

Its fine, you love your dad I expect, doesnt mean you want to have sex with him. Its the same, not all love is sexual.

This has more to do with sexuality than puberty, so:

Puberty for Boys >>> Teen Sexuality

well, i'm not gonna tell you it's normal because i question it myself, but i will tell you that my friend and i consider eachother brothers, and we say i love you at least twice a day. whenever we're hanging out we hug eachother and get affectionate, and we're both straight. so i'm gonna say you're not the only one :)

Yea i think its great, and i do it with my best freind too, and i mean it. Let other ppl think what they want too. And him or you having a gf is nice and all, but it should not make that much of a difference. IT might be easier for you to say and mean it and to have it not sound gay when either of you has a gf..

Sure, why wouldn't it be normal? If you're really close, there's nothing wrong with joking around like that.

I agree with this completely. Society kind of has double standards:rolleyes: when it comes to this sort of thing. Girls bonding is accepted but guys bonding like this is kind of Taboo Which does annoy me somewhat.

But , you are lucky to have a friend like that, don't let what other people say bother you . And don't let the homophobes:P change anything about what you and your friend have. And that is coming from a straight guy:cool:

I'm gay but I see my friends as brothers and could never think of a relationship with them and we hug each other when we meet, or put an arm over each other's shoulders or say 'I love you' when we help each other...And that's perfectly normal.
Call it a bromance (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bromance).

I think it is because of this:

Males back then were so obsessed with power and trying to show off how they were better decided that a close bond with other males is out of the question and that it's "gay" or whatever and that showing emotion is for "ladies." And you know what? That stuck! Guys now are stuck trying to battle what they grew up with, and trying to show emotion but are afraid of being labeled! :c It is really unfortunate.
Just like way back when, a woman was in the kitchen, making dinner, listening to her husband, and taking care of children. And if a woman even seems remotely voyeuristic, she was labeled a "nymphomaniac." That is why girls are much less open about porn/masturbation/sexual desire. Time to change things a little, yeah? (:

Let the boys have their bromance
let the girls have their freedom of sexuality without being labeled a whore!
