People are always so obsessed with being heterosexual, homosexual, or bisexual. Are these not just human inventions. I mean sure, you may prefer males, females, or both, but does it really matter? Does it really exist, or are sexual orientations just in our minds? For instance why should it matter what gender someone is, if you love each other, why does it matter? I mean sure, there's that whole thing where same-sex couples can't have kids, but other than that, is there any real reason to separate genders in terms of orientation? For instance, is it not possible for a straight woman to fall in love with another straight woman because she loves her personality?

To me, I can myself enjoying a woman, and wanting to be around a woman, and truly loving a woman. But I can't be in love with a woman. It's -really- messed up. I can't explain it. It's just how I think. How I can only be in love with another guy. Chicks... Nope.

For instance, let's say you're perfectly "straight" and you're not attracted to your own gender at all. Now let's say you meet a member of your own gender who is your everything. That person is everything you ever wanted and you fall in love with the person for who they are, but you still do not find members of your own gender to be "hot" or anything.

When I first came out to my mum, she told me about how she completely fell in love with a girl in school. She was the only girl she ever fell in love with, but she absolutely adored everything about her. My mum's straight.

I don't believe that anyone can fit so squarely into these categories, but I do use the words to describe orientations for reference.

I'm gonna revise my post. What Rith said was pretty accurate. I still can tell the difference between a super hot girl and a normal hot girl, but I don't have any attraction to them. Someone who goes to my school was actually perfect for me, and I fell in love with her. And she's a girl. But it's not as deep of a love as it would be with a man. It's more like someone that you can be REALLY good friends with.

I think I get what you mean a bit. I feel that way with guys, though not the "really good friend" thing. I know I like girls more, but for some reason I said yes to a guy :P Emotionally, I like girls better. It's very rare that I connect emotionally with guys in a way like that. But even then, I have a very picky physical attraction to guys. I've got a list of girls I like. Guys, I've been physically attracted to three. But it's enough that I don't consider myself gay at all.

Well... my two cents in this is sort of confused. I'm in love with this girl, we were together for nearly fifteen months. Things have just been confused for a while. I cheated with a guy. No emotions attached, I was just really interested in the male body. I myself am biologically female, but I'm really not sure if I'm male or female. One part is male and the other is female. So I'm just really confused at the moment about that.

I completely agree with you here.

It's a bit hypocritical of me to preach this but I don't think people should try to label themselves at all. As you've said, love is love, gender isn't something that should ever get in the way of it. I've fallen in love with both genders and find that love is something I've never been able to quite explain. It just populates spontaneously and there's nothing you can do about it.

Something someone said to me a couple of weeks ago really made me realise how much pressure I put onto myself to label myself when really I just need to stfu and just love whoever the fuck I love. Whilst I'm mostly physically and emotionally attracted to boys, I find it just as easy to 'love' either gender. I love people for who they are, what they stand for and their general persona. I don't think I've ever really taken physical appearance into much consideration.

So yer, labelling sexuality is just another way to segregate and separate ourselves. Do nicht do it.

I can get very emotionally attached to girls I suppose but loving someone isn't really the same as being in love with someone.. If u know what I mean :)

Pansexuality - Loving a person no matter what gender, female, tran, or male

:P

Because some people are just naturally attracted to a specific gender, as some people like blue eyes and some people like brown eyes.

We classify someone as heterosexual, homosexual, or bisexual based on which specific gender (or both) they are more attracted to.

Theres also pansexuality (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pansexual), someone that loves someone else regardless of gender identity.

My ex girlfriend is a lesbian, but she was still romantically attracted to me even though i was the only guy shes felt like that for and been in a proper relationship with.

I love all humans and can love both genders, or even transgenders, romantically I feel depending on the person however in general I am naturally more inclined to females. That said I agree with everything you said and you most definitely deserve a +rep

Falling in love with someone because of personality is still love.. So if I said I was straight, then fell in love with some girls(over the course of my life) because of their personalities that would technically make me bi.
I think sexuality is natural, someone straight cant be converted to pansexuality even if they wanted to.
I think labels are there to prevent confusion :P
