Why is homosexuality associated with AIDS, and furthermore should it be? Were homosexuals the first to contract the virus, if so why?

I'm putting this in ROTW because while I know little about it, no doubt people will have conflicting opinions. So let battle commence I suppose.

Few things I know about AIDS(Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome - I hope I get it correct) is: It is caused by HIV, and it is the advanced form of the virus.

I think if I remember from a documentary, it was first contracted from an animal(monkey, I am not sure), and then into the humans, in Africa. And then it spread it out to other societies.

HIV's period of incubation is between 6 month to 10 years(depending on several factors, like health, age, body and etc.). So, it is very hard to be detected by the infected. The infected person is unaware, at that while he-she started to infect other via bodily fluid exchange and or using personal items other people using it.

As you know, safe sex wasn't practiced a lot back 40 years ago, in the 70's and 80's. From that time, mostly homosexual weren't aware of it, and it started to spread among them first(even it was spread among heterosexual groups who did not practiced safe sex). And they are the first that alerted the community from aids.

If you watch Philadelphia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philadelphia_(film)), you will catch me a lot better.

I actually watched Philadelphia, I have it on DVD even. Excellent film, nice one Tom Hanks. So anyway if homosexuals originally contracted it, is it true that homosexuals switch partners quicker with spreads it faster as many sources say? Should we still ban homosexuals from giving blood because of the increased risk?

Yes, if they keep on changing partner, then they are aiding in populating aids. The condoms and some other contraceptives, well, one of their purpose is to make the contraction of STDs a bit harder.

There are tests, I think. If you the homosexuals is found out to be safe and without any infection, then go ahead, donate blood.

Sti's are much more likley to be passed on through anal sex than they are normal sex.
Although a few straight couples do have anal sex, the majority don't, and the majority of gay couples do.
Also in general (notice i said in general before you have a go at me :P), guys are more promiscuous than girls, meaning that they have more sexual partners. So a gay couple will more likely have had more sexual partners between them than a straight couple. And the people they had sex with will have had more sexual partners etc. So overall this gives them a higher chance of contracting the disease.

I know why the two are associated.

Back in the 80's, around the time the disease became so rampant, sex education for gay people was absolutely non-existant. In school, all the classes had to do with heterosexual relationships. So, since gay men were not fully aware or taught the proper, safe way to have sex, they had unprotected sex quite a bit...leading to the spreading of the AIDs disease. It's not because gays are just such whores that just fuck anything that moves, they were never taught the safe way. I don't really blame them. They still don't get a great sex education unless they look it up online.

Why?

Because HIV is contracted when infected bodily fluids enter the blood stream. Not bashing gays here but that part of the body wasn't designed for that type of activity and so the skin in the rectum tears more easily, allowing semen from someone who's HIV positive to enter the blood stream of the recieving partner.
