parents grounding me for no reason

so i am a 16 year old girl that likes to have fun. i am not going to lie, i am the complete opposite of shy (unless if its a boy i like ;p) but really i am not and today i had a couple of friends over. they stayed till one. who cares right? we didn't drink or anything. it was some bonding time and than my mom yells and screams saying that she wants to sleep which we were perfectly quiet. earlier on in the day my sisster wanted a hard boiled egg and i said id fry her one because i suck at hard boiling and they always crack and she wouldn't eat it. my dad FLIPPED and grounded me. my sister and i didnt tell my mom and we just chilled, were on the computer, and i had my friends over. apparently they want to ground me for a month now? i did NOT mouth off like my dad claimed i did. i just told him the truth and he fucken flipped. is that really stupid or what? i'm unsure what to say to them now cause they're getting so pissy lately. my mom is hitting menopause and my dad is going through his MANopause. it's fucked. i can't even talk to my rents anymore without them flipping. and especially now that i may start dating again soon.....

Parents can get really stressed at times, they have a really stressful job. They have a legal obligation (whether you want them to or not is for another day) to raise you, and to raise another human being is a very hard thing to do. I do understand why they might've had a problem with you being up at 1 AM with a friend. At night time, you can hear noises more clearly because it's usually quiet at this time, so any sounds made come in clearly. I'd suggest you apologize for keeping her up, because there's a good chance they might rescind the grounding.

Did you ask them if your friends could stay over to 01:00 - maybe they weren't happy with this arrangement. Talk to them & apologise for whatever upset them & it will be fixed in a day

I think the fact that you don't think you mouthed off or that you didn't do anything wrong is part of the problem. Most of us get problems with authority in our teens, usually due to hormones and shit. It could just be that you don't realise what your parents class as talking back to them, they may also be stressed at work or whatever so don't completely blame them.
In my experience you need to treat them like idiots, ask them how they want everything doing etc, but at the end of the day you can usually do nothing right and you get blamed for anything, that's life it just takes time to get through it.
