I would like to join the army or the marines before I become a sheriff's deputy, but I have bad hearing and wear hearing aids. My dad and grandfather are also deaf and they have both undergone surgery and can both hear great now and I would say they can hear better than I can. But I'm not sure if I would be able to join even with the surgery. I would like to be an infantryman, but if not, maybe would I be able to serve my country in another way?

I'm sure there are other ways that you can help out the military. My step brother who is in the Air Force was overseas, but he didn't do any combat, he mainly focused on supply management of medicial aide. You could do something along those lines. Keep on going towards your dream man.

If i were to be in the armed forces, id want to be a cargo pilot, or one of the "dispatchers" or mission specialists thats in one of those giant planes flying way up high, but directly above the fighting.

I just looked it up, being deaf/hearing impaired won't keep you out of the military, but you can't do something like a com dispatch.

You have hearing aids, so its right to assume you have partial hearing? That might let you do more than if you were fully deaf.
