ok so I'm thinking about starting going to a gym but i'm worried about going in the showers and getting changed. Im straight but i'm really uncomfortable with being naked in changerooms etc and i've gotten semi hard in changerooms before because i was uncomfortable with being naked and it'd be really embarrassing if that happened in the shower. is this normal?

Very normal. No worries. The more time you spend naked seeing other guys naked, you'll notice that they get hard too, and you'll become more comfortable and it will become less of a turn on.

I've showered in the gym with a full erection, no one really cares.

it is perfectly normal. this probably happens to the majority of guys that first go to a gym and change in front of a lot of other guys. I usually go to the 24 hour fitness at least 3-5 times a week, usually at 1 or 2 in the morning so i still got time to go home, sleep for 2-3 hours, then wake up and still go to school. And even at those times, there is about 10-20 other guys there, but most of them are either my friends from school, or just really chill people i meet every night when i go. Your first time might be weird because you arent used to being around other guys naked, but if you want to get fit and workout at a public gym, those are one of the things that you will need to get comfortable with sooner or later. I been working out for the past 9 months at public gyms, mostly at the 24 hour fitness my cousin is the manager of, and if i was always worried about being naked in front of other guys, i wouldn't have the body i have today.

14-year-olds aren't supposed to go to the gym. In fact it's not that good for you until you're 16, and probably won't even help make you stronger or lose weight until around 18 anyway.

Whats the point of working out are a gym and taking a shower at HOME? it makes sense to get it done at the gym, thats why they have them there. It will be scary the first time, but then you will get used to it. Also, all is you have to do is mind you own business, it not like pple are gonna come up to you and start asking embarrasing questions.

What's the fun in that? Also, it's much more sanitary to wash a bit at the gym so you don't smell and look horrible until you shower.

Thank you smitty, for saying exactly what I wanted to.

I would make sure it is a close friend, though, because getting turned on by someone who knows you and knows other people who know you could be bad. Getting an erection in front of a bunch of strangers is no problem, though.
