The thing about perfection.

since iv been really bord latley i've been thinking about what perfect realy is.
and when i think my thougths turn out to be troumendously true, so i've come to the conclusion that there is no possible form of perfect that we humans can achive in a lifetime.

we cant achive a perfect body image; beacuse no matter how skinny or preatty you are or how in shape you are...threres still going to be something wrong.:yes:

you cant achive a perfect socioty, beacuse no matter what you do to achive it theres somthing that someone,somewere, isnt going to like.:yes:

i think perfection exists in the eyes of someone else. you know like a husband looking at his wife and thinking she is the most pefect thing ever. that i think is only when it exists.

or could be said that nobody is perfect, i am a nobody, therefore i am perfect!! although that is a tad arrogant! lol

Funny... yes, it is said that God's the only thing perfect... and as many people say, "God to the eyes if a child is their mom"... well, I think that means that in christianity god's supposed to be perfect... so is the mom (or wife, like Alex said) at the eyes of someone else.

Perfectionism isnt about being perfect
I would NEVER want to be perfect
Perfectionsim is about the constant drive to improve ourselves and the society that we live in
Its this drive to improve ourselves thats allowed us to become the dominant species on this planet
and its what going to allow us to tackle allot of severe issues facing humanity as a whole such as global warming, africa, the middle east, norht korea, Cancer, AIDS, TB, etc...

its not about being perfect, thats imposible
its about trying to be
because in trying we do make things better

But it has done ALLOT of good
its whats allowed us to move on from some very harmful and narrow minded views
everything from the earth being flat to slavery and the nazis
this drive to make a better world has allowed us to make HUGE advancements in tecnology, medicine, space exploration etc...

Perfection is an idea, a concept. Nothing/no one can be undoubtedly perfect. But, one can perceive something/someone as being perfect. I think therein lies the beauty of perfection, yet also its curse.

I agree. Like a school system's punishments, for example, train you to be perfect at following rules, which in a way is impossible. That is why I'm semi-rebellious. I don't believe anything is perfect, and one can only use the word perfect as an expression (most of the time anyways). Perfection, as *lostmy way* said, "is an idea, a concept.". I agree 100%.

yeah perfection isn't a physical thing its an image we have of something in my opinion

When I hear the word perfection I think two things.

First, I think of body image. I wish I looked perfect, to make up for the fact that everything else about me sucks. My mindset, personality, life, emotions, moods, grades, friends. Sucks, it all sucks. If only I could look how I wanted. I look at all the skinny, blonde, great skin, great makeup, hair, etc. etc, girls, I wish I was that. Ill never be that, but I still try. Mostly because there is a small flicker of hope in my mind, that if I looked perfect - everything could be perfect. And that sucks in itself, that I feel like I have to look perfect to feel good.

Second, I think of my work at school. I try to make my projects look perfect. Mostly in art things, since that is what I am best at - I try to make it the absolute best I can. Now obviously it isnt working, I have an F, D, C, and B - Ive barely ever gotten A's. Anyway, Im a perfectionist when it comes to projects - and when it doesnt turn out perfect I can get really upset. The other day I had a panic attack over a project. I was in a group, we had to paint a banner for a Renasseince Fair, and my group wasnt really into it, smearing the paint, making fat lines, bad colors, not even trying. I was trying to work really hard and make it good but no one else cared as much. I got upset no one would listen, I couldnt breathe well almost fainted.

My strive for perfection is practically ruining me, but I still try.

Perfection doesnt exsist. To every person, it exsists in everyone but ourselves (excluding egomaniacs and narcissists). I look at other people and can say "God, they are perfect - why cant I be" and I beat myself up over not being able to be as perfect as them. I will never be perfect. No one is. But our own desires make us believe that perfection exsists and we kill ourselves every day trying to get there.
