Ok, well. This is my first post here. I am currently 13 years old, 5'1", 150 pounds. I have taken a BMI test and yes I am overweight/obese. I have tried to eat better and exercise. But, my parents are both overweight, so is my sister. I can't go to a gym because I live in a very small town and there isn't one. I don't have a weight set or anything. So I have been trying to do sit-ups and push-ups.

I can't really do much walking or what not because its cold up here. Like -20 degree weather and snowy. All I have at my house is a stationery bike. I try to ride it, but to me it doesn't make much of a difference. I am totally addicted to pop and chocolate and I have been trying to cut down, but it is extremely hard. I've also been trying to cut down on portion sizes when I'm eating.

I just need to know some other typical household exercises to do, some extremely good food choices, and just some more info on weight loss. THANKS!

Cody.

Eat lots of vegetables... they are awsome and will help you loosing weight... I think all you can do now is eat good, and do what you can at home since the weather's not the best... wait until summer, and there yourself won't beleive how much weight you are going to loose... most people (I think)get fatter in winter because there not much to do... so they don't do anything.

Cheese Whiz and peanut butter have lots of callories... Eat celery by itself no matter how "icky" it is to you... they are good for you, and will let you get to your goal... common vegetables are fine... as long as you always eat them, and try not drinking sodas or eating chocolate... you'll be fine :)

He is right about the celery thing, and actually there are tons of fruit and vegetables that have negative calories - I can do a search and get some for you.

asparagus
beets
broccoli
green cabbage
carrots
cauliflower
celery root
celery chicory
hot chili peppers
cucumber
dandelion
endive
garden cress
garlic
green beans
zucchini
apples
cranberries
grapefruits
lemon mango
oranges
pineapple raspberries
strawberries
tangerines
lamb's lettuce
lettuce
onions
papayas
radishes
spinach
turnips

Those are all negative calorie foods, so eat a lot of those. And if you have to put something on them, low fat sour cream (I hate it, but some like it) would probably be okay on celery and stuff, dont go overboard. It all depends on portions and sugars. Sugar is okay every once in a while, try to start cutting what sugars you eat by a little bit, then go down the next day and the next etc. until you are very rarely eating it. Instead of regular sodas, drink diet - most of them taste almost the same. Diet dr. pepper, Diet pepsi or coke, diet sprite - they all taste very similar to the sugary version. It may taste weird at first but if you keep drinking those instead, it will taste normal to you. And yes WATER, water is key - DRINK LOTS! Drinking cold water will burn calories pretty well. Focus on your eating before you get all worried about excersize.

Is the flavoured Aquafina water ok to drink? I know it has a lot of sodium, but its water, isn't it?

And yeah. Everytime I do drink pop. I only drink diet. Actually, imho diet tastes better :P. I've tried to cut it down to one pop a week. And eventually, take it out. Thanks guys.

It's better than pop, not much better though. Water is the best.

Lol, nah its fine Banane. People need to be harsh to get places. I know you weren't trying to be. But hey! Whatever eh! And yeah, I know that plain water is better Miguel, but ya never know.

Actually the flavoured water shouldnt be a problem, it still has no sugar/calories or anything except sodium. Drink that if you cant get yourself to drink plain water enough, but they are right regular water is always best. But the flavoured water is just fine.

THis might sound stupid, but it worked for me,

Eat tons of pineapple, its negative callories and its sweet, but dont forget, pineapple dosnt give everything your body needs, banance your diet.

pursuade your parents to take you somewhere hot in the summer, get a medical for diving and go experiance the underwater world, its great fun and your body burns fat like mad, in my 3 month diving training (i hadnt descovered pineapple or negative callories so it was pizza every night, pasta, and the snacks from the local supermarket) from diving twice a day i lost 2 stone, also, if your a beer drinker, stop that (i know; hope your not anyway, your too young!)

Pineapple, being fruit, contains high amounts of fructose and fibre. Basically, you'll be hyped on sugar and shitting a lot. Just eat varied fruits and an otherwise healthy diet.

Ah, didn't notice the necro post. Really, it's obvious the problem has been resolved if it's that old. Don't dig for threads.
