Help me, SimCity 4 players of VT.

My game has lost its mind. I can't build a city over 1,000 without the entire place having massive, unexplainable transportation problems that don't make any sense at all. I reinstalled the game to no avail. It's driving me insane; I once built metropolises of hundreds of thousands of people but now I can't get a fucking apartment to show up.

My disk stopped loading the maps, so I couldn't play at all :(

That's weird. Have you tried replacing the grey streets with black ones? That always solves my transport problems =/

I've replaced the streets with roads, that doesn't help.

For you hardcore SimCity nerds (I know you're out there), yes I do have mods installed, even though the only one that could possibly affect transportation is the NAM (which I've taken off before).

Needs more mass transit.
Busses, subways, monorails, and trains all help road traffic.
Sure, they're expensive to build, but it's well worth it.
Also, replace the busiest roads with avenues. Yes, I know it'll demolish everything to one side of whatever road you're replacing, but it's also worth it.
Also.2, use highways to connect your areas of work, to your residential areas, you may need several highways traveling in one direction to ease traffic.

That's not the problem though. No matter how much I do, these goddamn Sims won't go to work at a business across the fucking street. It's insane. This has never happened before, I don't need mass transit when my city barely has 1,000 people.

Ahhhhh. That issue.
I've gotten that once or twice before, can't remember how I fixed it though.

Please remember. I beg of you.

I honestly can't remember man.
The only thing I can think of that I would do is delete all user data (Or move it), and see if it fixes the problem.
Short of re-installing, I don't know anything else I'd do.

I did a full reinstall. Maybe I should play it without any mods, see how that works.

Yeah, that may help.
But also delete the user data (If removing/disabling the mods doesn't fix it). ;)
Even though you uninstalled/reinstalled it, all the user data persists.

I renamed the folder with all the user data in it so that SimCity wouldn't access it, isn't that the same thing?

Well yeah.... :P

Anyway, I fixed the problem. It wasn't really tied to any one mod and it actually wasn't transportation related — ironically, I had too many R$$$ sims (that's rich people) and not enough jobs for them (since they're the fucking pickiest when it comes to jobs). I taxed them out of the city and let the R$ (poor) and R$$ (middle class) sims flourish, and now I don't have any problems at all. Everything's great. Thanks for the help, everyone.

It's weird, I had to do a lot of research to get to the bottom of it.
