What do I text in this situation?

So yesterday I finally grew a pair and talked to this girl I have liked for a month now. I just had my friend show me where she was and then struck up a conversation. All went really smooth with lots of smiling and laughing, then I asked for her number. She said in a friendly way "well, I don't really know you" and I replied with a "well..." indicating that she seemed like a cool person to get to know.

So she said "ok" and I whipped out some paper and a pen, she wrote her name and number then we both had to go so we smiled and said bye.

Now my friends just said wait until this morning, keep things short and sweet unless she comes onto the conversation then pick up after Christmas.

I don't know what to text her.

Just start a casual conversation and then try to subtly turn the conversation to whatever you want.

You could wait till the day after christmas then text her saying the following " Did you have a good christmas? did you get up to much? " this way if she likes you she will text back and then the conversation will start.
