I go to an all girls school with the pupils being in the top 25% of the country and everyone else in my class is so smart. no matter how hard i try i just cant seem to get the grades I want... its so frustrating. I cry and cry at nights over this I don't know what to do. Especially in maths, I suck at maths. seriously. last year in my summer exams I got 42%, yeah bad. but the thing is I do fine in class and if I don't I always go to see the teacher for extra help. but when I get into a test situation I freeze up, my palms start sweating and I start hyperventilating, but only with maths :/ In primary school I was the smartest student in the school and I got awards for it and everything! but now that im in 3rd year everything just seems so hard. there is so much pressure to do well but I just want to give up. I have to choose my GCSE subjects at the end of march 2011 and I don't know what im going to do! I just have this feeling that im going to fail everything. since I got to this school I've done nothing but fail. my parents keep offering to move me but I don't want to leave, all my friends are there and I cant leave now and start trying to make new friends. please help me, what should I do!?:(:blue::cry2:

For starters, And you can trust me on this, The more you keep telling yourself you will fail then the more chance there is of you failing. It seems pretty obvious that Exams are a problem for you as you pointed out and I can only recommend you get help from someone, maybe a teacher who can advise you how to keep calm in the exam. As for achieving the grades you want it is merely a matter of studying. There are plenty of sites which can help with revising subjects and it really helps if you have a timetable of what subjects to study and when. Lastly, Believe in yourself! I know it may seem hard to, but you'd be surprised how much it helps.

Ok, first.. relax... breathe, you're trying, that's important. Then, organize your ideas, dedicate time to just... think, go to the teachers and tell them exactly what you wrote here.
What I think is that you are so scared of the consequences of failing that you lose control when you have to do the exam.
It's all here (points at head)... Relax, everything is going to be fine, it's just an exam. Start studying some days before the exam and think that you can do it, a positive mentality can do a lot of good things :)
So.. in conclusion: relax, organize yourself, talk to others for help (again) and think positively.
If you need more help, you know where to find me :)
Take care, good luck!!
