View Full Version : Under God??

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
Should "Under God" be removed from the pledge of allegiance?
Phantom
November 11th, 2006, 12:18 PM
Yes.
That crap was added in like 1950 and should be removed.
Our founding fathers would not have stood for that.

November 11th, 2006, 03:00 PM
i think it should be left there in my opinion i know im probably gonna get flamed for this and told im wrong but i grew up using the textbooks with religion still in them and hey apparently christianity was a big part of founding the country
Phantom
November 11th, 2006, 03:13 PM
Actually Christianity was not what this country was founded on. Why do you think we have freedom of religion?
It was mostly agnostics, Freemasons and Christians.

November 11th, 2006, 03:21 PM
Yes it should be removed...

November 11th, 2006, 03:54 PM
I never say that part anyway. I say " one nation,........, indivisible." I just stop saying it, and no one can do anything about it. Freedom of speech. I will say most of it, just not "under god."
Phantom
November 11th, 2006, 04:00 PM
I do the same thing.
It sucks because if we try to remove it the crazy Christians come screaming...... calling us traitors and all that shit. Yelling their false claims of how America was founded by Judeo Christian beliefs

November 11th, 2006, 04:05 PM
Ya, some teachers have confronted me about not saying "under God". I wanted to tell them to take thier damn Christians thoughts and shove it, but I had to be mannerful so they couldn't say that I'm evil because I'm not Christian. Sll I said was I have freedom of speech and walked away..........detention one hour for walking away from a teacher when she was still talking to me.
mRojas2000

Exactly... it SHOULD be taken out.. america's lacist
DomSoulWraith
November 11th, 2006, 04:23 PM
Well, most of America isn't THAT bad. I almost disagree with saying the pledge at all. "indivisible" Red states and blue sates. Then, there's the fact the we're pledging our allegiance to a cloth flag you can buy in a dollar store! What's the point of the pledge? To show our patriotism? The fact I'm still living in this country is patriotic enough!
mRojas2000
November 11th, 2006, 04:26 PM
Well, you should feel lucky that your living there, and feel as most patriotist as you can...

All of u saying crazy cristians just STFU because cristians arent the only ones who impose their religion. wat about muslims and the politically incorrect cartoons? even my teacher told me how teachers used to put up menorahs and cristmas trees( whcih he says people are calling them holiday trees) and then somebody complained and now they cant put up shit. i know theres freedom of religion but we aint imposing religion on u. so wat now i cant show my religion? cause thats what people arwe doing when they complaing about christmas trees and stuff liek that. if u dont like saying under god dont make everyone not say it, u have the right not to say and im sure they just didnt mean the cristian god they could mean any religions God because idk if there were mamny atheists bak then. so if u atheist or anything else and u're making other ppl not be able to say under god or anything else liekt hat then u're been hypocrite. dont be all bitchy saying they violating your right and making a big deal out of everything, so jus let ppl say god and if u dont want to say under god just DONT! nobody will care, nobody really gives a shit if its offensive when it really isnt.

I think no, but don't jump down my throat!!
It should simply be OPTIONAL, like, when you're saying it in homeroom everyday, just go, "...for which it stands, one nation,--------, indivisible..." If you don't want to say it and don't think you have to, then just DON'T.

See and then u people get angry when I say something about the atheists. You are guided by Satan. God gave us everything in the world, so i think we ought to at least show that it is HIS KINGDOM. I dont even say the pledge of allegiance because I think this country is pathetic: filled with racist white people who forced my ancestors over here and now oppress my people. I dont pledge allegiance to this crappy nation. I NEVER SAY THE PLEDGE. The "under God" part is about the best part of the pledge.
I will pray for the athiests and racists

Ok its the first time I read this (thanks to lord servant) and I totally agree... Yesterday I copyed the first post to my aunt and I told her it should be removed... then she was like WHAT ARE YOU CRAZY? and I was like NO! and then she almost started screaming at me that this nation was founded under god, and all that shit... then she started giving some weirdo reasons, and I ended up saying whatever...

That was a VERY VERY ignorant thing to say.
watched any Jesse Jackson keep the black man down speaches lately?
Now slavery was very very bad but think, where would most of the black population be. They would be in africa getting killed by militia with ak's, most of them wouldn't even be alive

No the pledge is there to try and build patriotism
considering america has gone through some prety tough shit like a major player in 2 world wars and then the nasty ass cold war then shit like vietnam, desert storm, etc....and now iraq and afganistan
the under god part is there because america as a country has ALWAYS had a VERY large christian population
the government is made up out of the people
so it makes sense
and seriously its a few words
i dont belive in gob but i dont think its that big a deal
when i was in public school i used to have to say a big prayer every morning
now that sucked
mRojas2000
November 14th, 2006, 10:45 AM
Still, a country doesn't need a religion... if the state's lacist why does there have to be GOD in the pledge?? you might think thats ridiculous, but think about UE... Turkey hasn't been accepted because they are muslim, and to enter UE the state has to be christian... but isn't UE laicist??
Whisper
November 14th, 2006, 11:19 AM
do you mean the EU?
European Union
The government is the people
its created by them, for them
i'm not religious in the slightest but I do know that for people who are catholic, christian etc.. Religion and faith is a HUGE part of who they are
now dont get me wrong I do think religion for the most part should be kept seperate from government when it comes to international affairs, creating new laws etc...
but for something as simple as under god
its not a big deal
as for the EU
Turkey does have a very large muslim population
now the muslims let there faith permeate there government
trying to work with them in the EU would be very hard IMO
but again I live in North America
not Europe
mRojas2000
November 14th, 2006, 11:23 AM
Yeah I meant EU.. sorry but I was thinking in the italian name :D
Anyways, still, one president can be muslim, but that doesn't mean that his government has to change everything to his religion... he should rule with no religious barriers... government is something, and religion's another... I don't think they should go together!

i think its sad if United States Citizens wont even pledge to there own Country Our Founding fathers DIED for you! so you can live in a house so you can go to school and get an education so you can be free!
and live the life your living right now!
and i think the least you can do is pledge to our country.
i think if you have a problem pledging to our country than you should move to canada or something seriously.
about the under god you know christians aren't the only people who believe in god.
i know there are people who dont believe in god all together and i dont know what to tell you.
but i think we should be respectful of the people who made the pledge because they included "Under God" in it.

God was the one who allowed our nation to succeed. In my eyes, we should acknowledge Him for all He has done. Also, who is really hurt by us saying "under God"?
We have enough problems in this nation, and not believing in God should be the first problem that we need to fix.

exactly. If the united states does not remain secular, it means betraying the FIRST AMENDMENT of the consitution! if we go back on that, does that mean we go back on all the other personal freedoms we cherish? And if the united states isnt secular, we will wind up like Iran, with a religous leader making the decisions. Excluding ANYONE from having full integration in the united states because of religion, color, language, or more.

This was taken to court, all the way to the supreme court. A father didn't like his daughter saying the Pledge at school(the under god part mainly). Figures he had little custody over the child and the girl went to church every Sunday, so she was okay with it.
Other than that, remember that we came here from England to look for many things, one included God. Therefore "Under God" shall stay in our Pledge. Most the population is Christian as well. Many people would not want "Under God" removed from our Pledge. It would be a long and hard process to get it removed. I see in the future, it will never be removed with the number of Christians in America.
