View Full Version : How common is it to REQUIRE high school students to shower after gym?

Is it almost every school, almost every other, 1 in 5, 1 in 100, what? Also does it depend on the location a lot or is it always just a decision of the school regardless of most factors? If anyone knows about Minnesota schools specifically that would be cool, but I'm guessing none of you do.
My friend is moving in a month and he didn't have to shower here and it would be really weird to ask him "hey do you shower at your new school after gym?" wouldn't it?

To be honest, I don't find anything weird with asking that at all. xP
Just straight up ask him. I don't think many schools make you shower after gym, but maybe it is up to the principle or the state to decide...Maybe your district?

Here, it's completely optional. I do it anyway though b/c I don't want to finish my school day being all sweaty and nasty

You don't have to at my school, and I don't shower cuz im pretty lazy in gym and if I do work hard it doesnt rly matter cuz I wear gym clothes and don't sweat alot btw working hard means we played soccer and I killed it :P

we do not have to do it after gym class but we must after sports.

^ Yeah at this school we have to after afterschool sports but not regular gym.
Is it more common or less common in larger schools or does it not really matter on the size at all?

I doubt it's too common. Most classes are 50min +/- 10, and cutting out another 15 min for shower time would make the gym lesson too short to be useful
Not that i feel PE is useful in any sense of the term, but their logic anyway

Alright, I'm getting more confident that he probably won't have to shower or anything like that there.
Is it really uncommon to be completely naked even if you don't shower too? Here we change everything except underwear, is that the most common way to do it?

Yeah I just keep my underwear on and put on shorts and another T-shirt instead of my jeans and sweaters

Here is is optional and I don't know of any kids who actually did it - at least not during normal gym period, maybe team sports and stuff. We showered after/before swimming, but only in suits, and nobody in my class at least got naked - only underwear. =P

I wish we showered here kinda, I like showing off :) you can tell everyone else either hasn't even started puberty or just began and I'm pretty much done even though I'm 14. Dick hasn't grown(a single millimeter, I've even lost weight and it appears the same and measures the same) since I was 12. 6.5" is cool with me though.

you do if you dont wanna be nasty
its kinda awkward at first but man-youd rather be clean and everyone has a dick
imagine if someone didnt-- thatd be worse
to be honest i was in 9th grade so it was like the worst time cause some guys had gone through puberty and some guys were a little behind everyone else. i was somewhere in the middle. while i can remember what some guys dicks looked like, most were my friends- summin it up- people wont remember your dick/you if you dont make a big deal about it

I don't think it's as common as it should be. Especially if you have PE in the morning, you need to get cleaned up so you don't smell horrible. Also, gym is supposed to teach good health, and showering after working out is a healthy habit.

^ It destroy's a child's ego if they have 100 other kids staring at their dick.

Everyone is staring at everyones penis! How on earth does it destroy an ego unless they've been bullied in the past to accompany that?

Not too common in public schools across the US. BUT I WISH THEY DID, I LIKE TO FEEL rejuvenated after gym class. I Wouldnt mind going naked.

At my school we don't but if we started teaching kids who are ten that you shower after P.E. then it would never be akward when you get older.
