ok then my band pretty much disbanded about a few weeks ago and I'm looking for a new band. I got offers from 2 different groups, both garage-bands. One is MCR centered and one is more Hollywood undead rock-rap ish. any thoughts on which to go with?

I'd choose neither. Neither will really get you far if you want to go farther into a music career. Or an attempt at one. At least find a band trying to have a different sound from every other band.

Depends which one will play more gigs. It really doesn't matter if you like the music, when you're starting out. You need to get your name out there to a band that plays plenty of gigs and music YOU like. I personally would chose the MCR one, but I actually like MCR is why.
