my school, starting on Jan 30, will be hosting students from Beijing (2 weeks). has any of your schools have exchange students? did you volunteer to host them (live in your house)?

I know my parents, even if this time these students are Chinese, wouldn't host them...at least if I ask they'll probably say no. I'm not gonna bother asking them if we could host them anyways. :S

My school does the exchange student program every year. One of them, a really sweet girl from France, is currently being hosted by one of my friends, so we get to hang out with her a lot.
Currently we have her (and she's a senior) at our school along with a guy from Russia (also a senior), a girl from Sweden (junior), a girl from Italy (senior) and another girl from China. (junior)
And then in February, we'll get eight more Chinese exchange students.

Ohh, I think I am well equiped to answer this. I have been on 7 english exchanges. So I went to the USA 7 times for a month each time and then the americans travelled back with me to spend a month at my house.
If you're going to host make sure you're house has plenty of room. When I was 10 I stayed in this small house in ohio and it felt really cramped. It is important to make sure the exhange student has plenty of space. It is important to talk to them and make sure they're welcome. I loved having exchange students in my house, but I was an exchange student in their house too so it may be different. If you've any specific questions I can answer them for you

Not that I know of about any students being at my school. But I desperately want to be an exchange student and go to England for maybe a semester or a year. I might do it in a year or two. I really hope I get to do it, even if I don't, there's also university in England which I will do. :P

Aye, did this back in 2008.

We went over to China for two weeks and then a selection of students headed over here to the UK for a week.

I think China was possibly one of the most amazing countries I've ever visited, such a different social structure / government / lifestyle e.t.c. I definitely want to go back there some time in my life.

My school runneth over with Germans 1st Semester every year. The kids from Brazil stay all year, and this year we are also getting a 2nd Semester Austrian. So stoked about the Austrian kid. I'm totally planning on forcing him to watch The Sound of Music with me.

He's reeaallly lucky my parents said no when I asked to host him. REEALLLY LUCKY.

I'm also in the process of becoming an exchanger myself. I'm in waiting right now to see if I make the second round of the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange selection for a year's full tuition in Germany :)

Both my high school and college do the exchange program.

In high school, a we had a girl from Italy come over for a year, and a guy from Germany for a semester.

In college, there are two girls from Hong Kong; three girls from France, and one guy from Ireland. If there are others, I am not aware of them (and it's a small college, anyway...)
