What do you think of IQ and what's yours? I have taken 3 different tests all hovering around 170.

And Bill Gates is not the smartest man in the world. He is pretty damn smart though. Also, his is actually more like 160.

No, I took the OLSAT most recently, it was a professionally administered test. I'm not bragging, IQ doesn't really mean much, it's just fun to talk about.

There are plenty of people with IQ's as high or higher than 170,

Bobby Fischer 187
Albrecht Haller 190
Alexander Pope 180
Antoine Arnauld 190
Arne Beurling 180
Benjamin Netanyahu 180
Christopher Langan 180
Charles Dickens 180
Gary Kasparov 190
Friedrich Schelling 190

80

I find online IQ tests a bore, so I simply don't do them. I don't have any motivation to know what my IQ is, it's never really been an interest of mine.

All they do is ask complex maths problems, which i'm not prepared to do in my spare time.

I would agree, but I was requried to take one for my school system, and the others were tests for higher level programs.

The OLSAT isn't an actual IQ test though, no? Last I checked the number that comes out of it isn't even an IQ, but rather something else called an SAI.

I honestly couldn't care less. I can't think of any reason as to know your IQ, other than to brag about it.

I don't really care what my IQ is, and I won't be too surprised if it's below 80 or something. It doesn't really matter to me, but about the bragging rights.

Let me just say internet IQ tests arent the real deal, so dont be quick to trust them. I'm not saying you're not smart, because even for the internet tests thats really high!
Mines 142 according to the internet :P

internet IQ's mean nothing. And so do normal IQ's. I don't think they measure intelligence accurately at all, and tbh, I don't think intelligence can be accurately measured at all.

They're pretty pointless. No use in knowing what it is, it doesn't benefit anyone in any way at all. Unless you count the ability to brag as a benefit.

There are different types of intelligence

Correct, the holistic score is a School Ability Index(SAI), but part of the test is a cognitive ability test, or IQ test, which is factored into the holistic score.

I don't believe that's correct. OLSAT sections are listed here (http://www.thinktonight.com/About_the_OLSAT_s/247.htm) amongst other places; which of those sections is the "cognitive ability test" section?

Everything I have read so far indicates that while the OLSAT measures something similar to IQ tests, it is not an IQ test and its results cannot be substituted for one. Especially not at the higher end of the spectrum, where group-administered tests like the OLSAT are notoriously inaccurate. Tests for gifted programs (which is what the OLSAT and its ilk are), are not IQ tests.

So, as before, I don't think you have a valid basis to claim that IQ.

However inaccurate I know they are, I can normally get between 120-130 on online IQ tests.

I think it's mostly down to being able to use logic and reasoning.

It's the same thing as the Quantitative Reasoning section is. All I'm telling you is what I was told by the counselor who administered the test.

Ah ok that makes more sense, it'll be him/her that's wrong, then.

Did you just make this thread so you could brag about how clever you are?

I've only taken shitty IQ tests online that are on facebook. I get around 140 each time. In a proper IQ test it would probably be about 50 lol.

I've never taken an IQ test, I'd probably find some way to screw it up and end up having an IQ of 30. :P
