I was watching a video a couple minutes ago and I found out that if your tv is not at 1080p you shouldn't maximise settings to 1080i and keep it at 720p in order to get the best picture out of the screen. I tried this out changing the settings back to 720p but the only real difference that I can see is that the PS3 menu looks closer to the screen, no real enhancements to video. The other thing is that the ps3 also gives me the option to run at 1080p even though it's a 720p... Should I just stay at 720p or does it not really make a difference, sometimes all this nerd talk confuses me.

Consoles dont render at 1080p or i

they render at 720p and then your tv upscales to 1080p

Uh. No. They render 1080p and i, well the PS3 does.

You should leave the resolution at whatever the TV says it can handle. Its not bad for the TV, but its not going to give you any better picture.

This link is completely outdated and would therefore be rendered obsolete as generally every game that has been made exclusive for the ps3 prior to 2008 is made in 1080p and the majority of all major titles by 3rd party Call of duty for example

Actually.... Most games are made in 720p, the console handles the upscaling to 1080p. On the Xbox, the only games I know that are actually in true 1080p are the XBL Arcade titles.
