View Full Version : Are These Surveys Really Appropriate?

I have just started coming here, and one thing I have noticed is that there are many little surveys in the puberty section that ask for penis size, where you have hair, masturbation habits, etc, and a lot of them are really specific, asking for certain ages for example.

What I am wondering is whether or not these are appropriate. I mean, I can understand teens asking their fellows these questions, but how do we know that everyone on here is a teen? Some of them might be pedophiles, here to get off on the responses of us teens. It's sick, if that is the case.

I have already filled one of them out for fun, and I now regret it. If family happened to come across this site and saw that post, well, I would have a lot of explaining to do.

Does anybody else feel this way? Anybody else have second thoughts about these surveys?

Personally I don't feel at all threatened by the idea of paedophiles lurking. I actually think that VT is one of the safest places I've been to because of the restrictions on members and the work of the staff.

I agree with the family members part, but most of the time people just want to know what people their age have/do, and what they should have in the future.

I dont put where I live, or even what state, so they wont find me, but if people (pedophiles) want to know what teens at the age of 15 do, then so be it. It wont harm anyone really, in my opinion. Plus I doubt any pedophiles would bother going on here. I'm sure there are sites that they can benefit from more.

that's kind of the whole point of the site; to be open and to give some specific concrete information....opposed to the vague/general info that may or may not be offered in school, for example.

idealistically there wud be no creepy ppl on the site, but it's an inevitability really... if it bothers u remain anonymous, stay away from P101, or find somewhere else to spend you time

the things that are discussed here are pretty mild compared to what alot of teens are talking about and/or doing these days, i'm 15 and most of the people i kno my age have had sex at parties or w/e....or they claim to have..

lol welcome to the perverted world we live in

Well, you have a good point, but I do not see much threat in it. If the surveys actually asked for location, then I would consider that totally inappropriate.

Haha didn't expect some of the negative reactions here. =-P

All I was trying to say is that it makes me uncomfortable that there might be adults on here posing as children. I'm not saying that the site is unsafe, as there are many efforts used to keep teens safe.

Let's just hope that these pedophiles, if they are indeed here, don't trick anybody into giving too much information. Appreciate the responses. =-D

As a girl I sometimes feel weary posting on here, but it's interesting to read what others have to say about themselves in a safe, fashion. The surveys are simply an easier way for boys and girls to talk about things that they may be sensitive talking about to others , face to face.

Nobody has to post in a survey if they dont want to give those details, its an individual choice. I would be embarassed to think of my family reading some of the more personal details I've shared on here, but I dont really care about strangers reading it, however old they might be, it does me no harm.

Well, if you feel that your posts would jeopardize your identity then you may contact the moderator of that section or contact a global moderator or administrator and they will delete the post(s)

In the topic of pedophiles, we keep a close watch to make sure the people that enter here are at the age that's required to be a part of VT. It's a very safe here, don't post in threads that you don't feel like.

Welcome to the club, a small minority of us detest the polls at P101

Well, I feel like this is one of the safest places you can be on @ internet.
And I don't really think that pedophiles would hang here..
And well, if you don't feel safe with it, just don't answer.
In fact, you don't even need to be here if you don't want to.. ;)

Its down to the individual to decide if they want to/are comfortable doing a survey.

Well it's true that there is the possibility of some pedo posing as a teen here, and it's true that some surveys cross the line. But action is always taken in either case so it's really not something to be paranoid about. As for the rest of the surveys, some guys are just curious to see how they hold up, or even troubled by some things (tiny penis, too much/too little body hair) and other people filling out surveys can make them feel better. For example, I always used to feel like I was way hairier than I should be and I was very self conscious for a while. But after reading a few surveys on here (and hoping people were telling the truth of course) I found out that having a ton of body hair is a little more common than I thought it was.

the real question is "are surveys about surveys appropriate?"
