My uncle is a construction worker and he asked me to come help him remodel a house about a week ago. I said I had to work all week. Well today, he went to the job site and went to light the heater (natrual gas) and a "fireball" came out and lit the house on fire. My uncle got out busted a window and put the water hose into the window so the house wouldn't go "POOF" but um he has 2nd degree burns all over. I feel sooooooooooooooo bad! I should've been in his position!

You're always going to have "it should have been me" situations in your life.
Try not to take it to heart too much and try to be there for your uncle during his recovery as a support for him, of course there's nothing wrong with showing your regret, but try not to dwell too much as this won't make anyone feel better.
Hope this helped you out a little

The way it happened is not your fault. It happened how it should have happened and you just have to accept it.
It might be hard but at the end of the day what's the gurantee you being there would have made any difference other you both getting hurt?

A friend of mine died, he had been on his motorcycle, he always drove safer with me on the bike and the night he invited me to the party, I said no. He got in a horrible accident and went into a coma.
If i had been with him, chances are, I'd be hurt or dead too. "To many 'what ifs' left no time for 'could bes'."
It wasn't your fault, and no one could of known it was going to happen. Be happy he got out okay, and that no one else was hurt. He may have 2nd degree, but it could of been alot worse.

I hope your uncle is alright. He's lucky he was able to get out without any worse injuries. Your lucky you had to work all week. Don't blame yourself for what happened. If you had been there, you could be in the bed next to him right now. Like Fiction said, "what's the gurantee you being there would have made any difference other than you both getting hurt?" I hope he feels better.
