View Full Version : High School Dropouts?

I dropped out of high school a good 3 years ago. I did it because I had poor grades and was never academically interested. I regret and don't regret making that decision at the same time. In the last 3 years, I realised that the educational system is bullshit. It's not meant to educate you at all. I'm not trying to work my way into peoples' lives by telling them not to go to school, I'm just trying to share an opinion. I believe that the only way people can educate themselves is by reading and basing facts on evidence. Logical reasoning and understanding of such situations is important. I've had friends say that I wasn't intelligent enough to get a diploma, or how I couldn't pass because I never studied. Truth is, I never studied. And I couldn't care less about passing even if I did end up studying. You (in general) learn so much more when school isn't involved. Take History classes for example. Teachers teach you what the government wants people to know. Its all controlled learning and that's why people aren't as knowledgeable as before. For obvious reasons, I'm not posting several reasons behind my dropping-out. I'd like to know what people think about their current educational systems. It's something of a wonder to know what people think about this.

I believe the public school system is shit, that is definitely true, but actually online schooling and some universities aren't that bad.
I wanted to drop out, but I didn't, because then I'd never be able to be what I want to. I was so, so close to dropping out. I'm actually rethinking the whole thing right now. But then, I couldn't be a therapist. My future would be so limited. While I never want my life to revolve around work, I want to take steps to lower the risk of being in debt and facing poverty. I'm not that self-destructive to do that to myself. The only reason I wanted to drop out was to save myself from suicide under the stress in a heat of the moment decision. And since that's no longer an issue, I'll have a future, and so now I have to make that future the best it can be.

With Political Correctness littering schools, could you expect less? I do agree with you though, we should go back to old days of teaching, where we actually learned something valuable and not learn how to take tests properly

Cypher, I couldn't agree more. Your post completely echoes what I think of the UK education system. Bravo Sir!
