Well, okay, not really but how was I to get you in here otherwise? :P

So...I was cutting up potatoes for some soup and all of a sudden I hear this really loud "BANG!"....Turns out a tree (big tree) had fallen and landed on the enclosed trailer in our backyard....I guess the metal bending and wood cracking scared me a bit....So I jump, and jerk my hand toward me and end up slicing the hell out of my thumb...It hurt like a bitch and was bleeding profusely for a while, I put alot of pressure on it but still couldn't stop the bleeding. I put it in cold water to constrict the blood vesels while applying pressure and that still didn't work. I have it wrapped in Koban right now, but it is really tight and my thumb is getting cold and purple. I have tried most of what I know to do to stop the bleeding...the Koban is working but I think it is too tight. Anything I havent tried yet that I should? I know it isn't bad enough for stitches, I have had worse before...

I would still suggest going to the ER to have it looked at. My sister was cutting some cake once, sliced her thumb and... It was just bad. And it turning purple and cold doesn't sound good.

The coldness and colr was because of the tightness of the bandage. I don't need to go to the ER because my mom was an ER nurse for 20 years, now she is the manager of CCU (Coronary/Critical Care Unit) at her hospital. She will look at it when she gets home, which should be in about 20 mins. I have loosened the bandage since I first started this thread so the coloration is back to normal now as well as the temperature due to the fact that blood is once again circulating.

Thanks for the reply btw.

If you can't stop the bleeding, it needs to be stiched and you probably should have gone to the ER

How is it?

It is better now. It was purple becase my bandage was too tight. My mom said it didn't need stitches, but it was on the border of needing them.
