I have been wanting to go out camping for a little while now, so I put camping equipment and a couple trips on my Christmas list. I need help on a few things though.
First off, I know you need a tent, sleeping bag, and a backpack to carry stuff around. What else do I need, as in clothes, supplies, etc.?
Secondly, I want to be in a secluded place when I go, I don't want to see another tent five feet away from me. How do I know what places have secluded camping? I live in Florida by the way. I wouldn't mind hiking, either.
Here is my list of what I should bring:
1. Tent
2. Sleeping Bag
3. Backpack
4. Boots
5. Insect Repellant
6. Flashlight
7. Light clothing
What else? Is there a certain brand you recommend for something?
Any other tips or advice for me? Thank you!

Tristin.

just pack up your stuff and walk, youll find somewhere dont worry, as long as your not tresspassing your fine to camp anywhere :)

as for the stuff, it sounds grand, maybe go to a specialist shop and ask what you should take just to be sure though :)

I'll check into a shop (like Dick's Sporting Goods?) and look around a bit.
I don't have a laptop, but a deck of cards sounds like a good idea to bring.
Yeah, going by myself wouldn't be a great idea, but I don't want mom following every step. I should see if any friends wanna drag along with me. :D
Thanks!

I'll look into that more too. In Florida, you're bound to find water of some sort while you are out and about! ;)

I'm going to list everything I want, with what I want out of it, so I could get some opinions on it. Here we go!

Tent (sleep me only, but have some space for belongings)

Sleeping Bag (not sure on what kind)

Backpack (enough room for food, water, tent, and other stuff)

Insect Repellant

Shoes (boots or tennis shoes, whatever works best)

Entertainment (cards, books, other stuff)

First Aid Kit (what brand?)

The big category: Apparel. I think I should bring different types of clothing with me.
Pants/Shorts: I usually don't wear shorts, but if weather is going to be warm when I go, then I'll get some.
Shirts: No tanktops, tight fitting, stuff like that... let's just say me wearing that is a no no to me.
So, the apparel I have planned is:
Blue Jeans
Changable pants (Pants that can change from pants to shorts)
Basketball shorts (Under my pants, so I can just use those for underwear/sleeping)
Shirts (I don't know)

we're usually in the mountains and its cold but for warmer places so real lite sleeping bag is good you can always put on a little clothes til your warm, I hate being to hot.

I wear hiking boots because my pack is usually like 35 pounds and ye changable pants rule.

for underwear and shirts we wear special kinds that like wick the sweat and dry, no cotton. all this stuff depends how much you walk and sweat tho.

I always bring my ipod and little speaker that plugs in for nitetime and buy some fire starter sticks.
