It's happy happy, joy joy. If you get good grades, that will solve all of your problems. If you manage to keep out the negatives, even if you live a boring life, it'll be a good life. Putting problems on the back burner is a GREAT idea. If you don't think of it, it hasn't happened.
No, this is not how I want to think, dad. Perfect happiness can NOT be attained. With everyone's different viewpoints and feelings, there is no way to make every person involved one hundred percent happy. So dad, I don't feel like trying to make others happy any more. You would prefer I do this? That's nice to know, but I don't care.
You think I'm doing something wrong? You don't even know the reasons for it. You think that I shouldn't feel a certain way? Why try and control another person's feelings?

Actually, I've noticed that I'm a lot happier knowing I'm passing all my classes than the stressed out I'd be knowing I might not graduate with my grades in the gutter. So having good grades has a good possibility of promoting a heightened sense of well-being.
And for some people, perfect happiness is probable. But it's generally those who see the good in life instead of the negative. Who aren't materialistic and take pleasure in the simple things.
You might be misunderstanding his intentions. I know that everything is really frustrating at you're age because you don't get to make a lot of choices. But if anything he's doing is bothering you, the only thing you can really do is talk to him about it. Otherwise he won't know.

Well, first of all, I think he has a poor approach to all of this and it could have went over in a more positive way.
Though to get this out of the way now; the only person that you can make happy is yourself. It goes for everyone. In my opinion, relying on things and people to constantly make you happy, isn't the best option as you could be let down. There is also never a perfect life or perfect happiness, but there is such thing as happiness as nothing in this world is just right. As there's always going to be things to do better and improve on.
He may have worded it very poorly and meant something like; "Stop trying to make other people happy, when it's you that is the priority that should take precedence over them." Which isn't the way you obviously want. You like to make others happy too which is understandable. Don't take everything your father says to heart, because you know deep down what is right and wrong. Especially on how you feel, but always keep yourself at a main priority as well, so it's a happy medium. You're not doing anything wrong, you're just not doing things the way he specifically wants you to. No worries man.

Uh, no. I do take pleasure in the simple things. He's trying to make me into a zombie who only cares about school and befriending every fucking person. He doesn't get that I am very socially apt, yet I dislike most people.

I'm trying to make everything happy for myself, my issue is him putting a damper on it. He wants me to make others the priority.
