So I drink alot of alcohol and I can't stop thinking about alcohol. I mainly drink alcohol because it makes me feel better and happyer. The other reason that I drink is because drinking kinda distracts me of thinking about cutting. I don't know how to stop the thoughts in my head that are making me drink. I am trying to find a way to stop my ''drinking'' problems but so far with no luck. Please someone give me advice on what to do to stop thinking about alcohol. :(

To be honest, man, I find myself in a similar position. It's a vicious circle, you feel like crap so you drink more and more and then you need more of it just to feel normal. My advice to you would be to limit it as much as possible.

In my opinion, you're not truly an alcoholic until it starts affecting other aspects of your life. Do you find yourself rolling in to school/work drunk? Have your friends commented on your alcoholsim? Do you find yourself drinking just to fall asleep at night? Have you had blackouts?

The best advice I can give would be to just quit but since I haven't been able to do that I know how hard it can be. So if you can't quit and it's not too serious yet, stick to a programme of damage control: don't drink spirits! Stick to beer and refrain from drinking super-strength lagers/malt liquors and you'll find this a whole lot more managable.

But if it's really affecting your life in a serious way you're just going to have to face the music, my friend. Contact an alcoholics support group in your area. I personally wouldn't reccomend AA since I disagree with their methodology, but if it works for you it works for you. Stay strong, stay happy. :)

i completely agree with you do what he says and seek support. one on one therapy works wonders. and the help of a good friend. find someone who you know you can call any time day or night to talk to when you feel like drinking.

Yeah, people comment on my alcoholism, I sometimes drink just to fall asleep but I dont go drunk in school. I've had blackouts too.

I can't go to therapy or a alcoholic support group. As far as I know I need my parent's permission. If they find out, things will get very bad for me. I can't seek help from friends also (I have no friends lol).

Thanks for trying to help guys. I'll try hard to stop drinking alcohol :)

If you roll that way, therapy can work wonders. However, seeking advice and help from friends and/or family is NEVER a bad thing. Everyone gets in tough spots every now and then, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with needing a little help, or asking for it.

Well, keep at it man! You can beat this! :)

Although it's worth pointing out that most groups will not require your parents permission, not in England anyway, and I'm sure it's the same in the US.

to kick addiction or never start you stay off as long as possible and after you do again your goal is to add a day or 2 onto your previous record and once your off think i'm not going to drink. I have and will always be T-total all my mates drink try to get me to. Thy who lives by the drink die by the drink. one of the best ways to put you off is some of the grusome thing of the drink like liver failure
