Can I make a request for the featured member forum to be reinstated, maybe changing once a week. I used to notice a real upturn in activity in my diary when it was featured and I really miss this. Judging by the number of diaries that have gone to the wall lately I'm guessing other diary owners have seen the same effect.

Can we have it back please?

I Agree, It was silly to take it away, as it made diarys known to users. The only flaw was that it was NEVER changed. My diary was featured forum for months, and so was jess's.

If you change it weekly, or fortnightly it would be a really good idea.

I also third this, and also The J Place should be first. :P

Clearly the reason you guys said it was removed will become null in no time. "The aim of it was to get activity to the member forums" well yeah there was when it was there. but it will slowly and surely die off again. And the cycle begins again.

I agree. Alot of diaries are dead now because no one knows they are there....

Like Ender said, a big problem is where the diaries are placed, they need to be more visable to attract members. I asked for my diary to be deleted as I felt there wasn't enough activity on it and I'd expect diaries will become less and less popular for members

I, personally, haven't noticed any decrease in diary activity since the featured member forum was removed. If anything, mine has only become more active. Not that it's representative of anything.

I think it should be added back as well. the activity in mine hasn't gone down but I think other diaries aren't as active and need a chance to get more activity

The only forums I ever noticed that were feautured were Regards to Evil and The J Place.

Unless it's actually changed to some other forums, then don't bring it back.

I remember J Place was left there for ages because of the change in staff (i think) or something. I think the system of asking to be listed in the Featured Forum isnt good. It should be random like it once was. Same with the lists of the forums.

mine was listed for a long time too. I agree, it should be random

I didnt like random, mine never got featured that way at all. I believe they should just be changed in rotation.

Agreed.

The problem with rotation is that it never ended up being changed. It should only be re-implemented if mods are going to rotate it regularly, otherwise there is no point.

It has to be an admin Jason, but to be honest with 3 admins on site it ought to be possible to do this once a week or maybe every other week.

This clearly wasn't the case before hand was it? 3 admins. Still. It got a bit out of hand. xD

Maybe we could change the way the member forums work to how gov has it?

Why not just move the diaries to the front page again? This time, leaving a limit of 15 diaries as to save up space on the front page. I mean, really, the featured member forum was a bit of a waste if you ask me. Putting the diaries back on the front page would be perfect. Easier access to them and they'd get more attention.

Well, there's one problem with this. There is a reason why they were moved to a separate page is because it will cramp up the home page. If we were to have all of the diaries there, it would look like shit. Since we have so many diaries and categories, it wouldn't look right.

After discussing this, it will be returning after voting is done and over with. It will be done in order as they appear that way no diary is chosen more over another. So the "Featured diary request" thread will not be returning.

I'm glad to see how the admin community views our wonderful member forums. They like our forums so much, that they would tarnish the wonderful looks of the main page just by being there.

How about another idea: Moving the little Member-Oriented Jazz up?

Meaning what I said, is; that it would cramp the index I find it unnecessary to cramp the front page with more forums when we have links that make it accessible. Not saying the diaries themselves are shity :P

If I make the category for the "Featured Member Forum" I'll add the link if it would be of any help, but seeing as how it's in community and at the bottom of the index. I could add it there if it made it any easier.

This wouldn't be too bad. Putting it under the Virtual Teen HQ section of forums would be nice.

Wait so your saying you'll had the "Featured Forum" link, at the bottom with the rest of it instead of up the top?

I agree with all of this, it makes sense to wait until the vt awards thing is out of the way so that the featured diary can have its old space back, and featuring diaries in turn is the fairest and probably simplest way. For the featured diary to work in bringing attention to diaries it needs that slot at the top of the page.

There are too many diaries to list them all on the main index page and I would prefer the Member-Orientated Jazz to stay at the bottom of the index as its really the least important section.

There's a list at the bottom where I could move the diaries or even recommend a name change to just "Member Diaries" I think there are plenty of ways to get to diaries. So when everything is said and done with the awards, it's going to be initiated. :)
