So, I hated anime for a while and thought it was for boring people, but I decided to try it out and see if I could enjoy any of it. The first anime series I watched was "Soul Eater", which was an alright series. I think the final episode kind of disappointed me though. The characters were quite interesting though.
The second I watched was "Nabari No Ou", which I'll say was better than any television series I've seen. The beginning of it seemed kind of slow to me, but holy fuck. The character development is unbelievable. I have to say that the final episode is one of the most depressing endings to anything I've ever seen. I don't know if I can call it a happy or sad ending, but just really depressing. I recommend anyone to watch it though, especially those who were like me and weren't interested in anime.
Planning on starting "Darker Than Black" and "D-Gray Man" next.

Like Christianity and Communism, I think some of the fans of Anime are a rather poor selling point.

Ive seen a few series here's my favorites...
FMA (Full Metal Alchemist)
Samurai Champloo
Cowboy Bebop
Afro Samurai
Death Note (the first few episodes are awsome but it gets boring after a while)
FLCL (Fooly Cooly)
Soul Eater
I think anime is pretty good. A lot of the shows do a good job of combining great fighting/action with comedy and even creppy and disturbing topics.
inb4 people use obnoxious fans as a reason not to like it
inb4 obnoxious fans claim that english dubs suck and japanese audio is the "real" way to watch it

Some English dubs could use work, although when I watched Black Lagoon, subbed and dubbed versions, I thought the English dub was infinitely superior. In fact, it was so much better that it seems like it was meant to be voice acted in English.
Also, Black Lagoon kicks ass, go watch it.

Yeah this definitely true.
Im just saying that people should put themselves on some pedestal just because they watched the entire series in a different language and read the subtitles.
Besides the obvious reason (i know english), I prefer english on a lot of shows because they actually do a pretty good job. Plus i like to hear reoccurring voices like Vic Mignogna (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vic_Mignogna).
Also, Black Lagoon kicks ass, go watch it.
Ok will do. Once im done with Sout Eater...which might take a while because i dont watch much TV. But the semester's almost over so i might have a marathon during break...we'll see.

I loved Fooly Cooly. My cousin got me into it, along with Cowboy Bebop. But I can honestly say I haven't watched those in almost seven years I think. My favorite would be Princess Mononoke or Sprited Away.

This a good list(Afro Samurai is my personal favorite in that list). If I had the right Internet speed, I would've downloaded the complete DVD sets of those good anime shows and volumes of their manga versions.
Unfortunately, not many good looking thrillers. Plus, I hate how many of the mangaka using the same manga-style for almost everything. Back in the eighties, every one was unique in their style, as if they have put their soul into their works.

Just started Darker Than Black. It's more for mature audiences/not about some kid ninjas doing shit. The story is interesting and I love the characters.
All the episodes are posted by Funimation on youtube. Here's the first episode: Link. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXJxd57cOmY)

*slight anime otaku*
Sayonara Zetsubou-Sensei (translates to "Good-bye Mr. Despair") is good if you're looking for satire (lots of references to Japanes culture and pop-culture, so I recommend the manga, lots of translation notes xD)
xxxHolic is probably my favorite though, very deep, makes you think, and there's comedy mixed in xD (once again, I recommend both watching the anime and reading the manga, the manga has a lot more material, and some of the plot points are better explained.)
Oh and One Piece xD

That anime disappointed me because Cowboy Bebop set the bar too high for it to follow.
Currently watching Ergo Proxy, and it's pretty awesome. Although the best character is a robot:

Wooo. I usually leave on my computer overnight whenever I wanted to download something. Tedious, but it works for me.
I'm personally a kid on the inside. I mean, I love Anime that's suited for a more general public. Here be my personal list of Anime:
Akazukin Chacha. (Kind of old and kiddy)
Afro Samurai
K-On (seriously, this is great)
Full Metal Alchemist
Death Note (I got bored after 12 episodes)
Pokemon. (:D)
and Finally, Yu-Gi-Oh.
I forgot the rest. It's been a while since Animax was taken down by our provider. And my interwebz is too slow as hell for me to watch online. Now I feel deranged.

I watched 'Spirited Away', which is supposed to be the greatest animated movie of all time. It sucked... and I liked anime at the time so it's not like prejudice played a part in what I thought.

I don't understand how you can say that something by Hayao Miyazaki sucked...a lot of his movies aren't my cup of tea, but I realize that they're masterpieces.

D: I don't even like anime very much but Mayazaki's films are so beautiful. Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke are probably two of my favorite animated movies.

Hmmmm, maybe I just don't appreciate animation much apart from Disney.
I mean, ok I'm admitting that maybe I'm blind to the beauty of these movies, so don't be offended with what I'm about to write.
I just don't understand whats so great about cartoons with no facial expressions and mouths that dont move in sync with the speech.
Thats probably not the point, but maybe it's just not my cup of tea.

They have a lot of facial expressions...
and mouths that dont move in sync with the speech.
It's really not that bad. Official dubs try to get it as synced as humanly possible. It's not like an old Godzilla movie.

Some anime I'm currently watching:
Naruto
Dragon Ball Z
Jigoku Shoujo
Some anime I plan or want to watch after I finish these 3:
Bleach
One Piece
Full Metal Alchemist
Death Note
Inuyasha
Code Geass
and 1 anime which I'd list if it weren't against site rules. (Not hentai mind you, but it is a bit risqué.)
Pokémon was good for the first 3 seasons, but now I'm not that into it.
I've only watched the original Yu-Gi-Oh
Funny how I haven't heard of Hayao Miyazaki or his films until Cartoon Network decided to air his movies. Glad I stumbled upon it :P
On a side note: Yessss!!! 250 posts :D

So I just finished watching Berserk. Holy crap that was an awesome show. So much violence and an amazing plot and score. Too bad it only covers the first story arc, gonna have to read it. Can't wait until the next series comes out next year.

I've never been big on Anime, but there are 3 that I love, and have watched sense I was little.
Dragonball Z, all of them. Hate if you want, but nothing, NOTHING, will EVER be better than this to me. It's the best of the best, and it's the most amazing series I have ever seen. And the english Dubs are brilliant, the best I've ever seen.
Naruto/Naruto Shippuuden. Again, hate all you like. I watched it when it first aired on Cartoon Network years back, and ever sense I have been hooked. However lately there have been a lot of filler episodes, and it's quite annoying, however the series should start up again in February, so I'm waiting.
The third is Yu Yu Hakusho. Loved it when I was a little kid, love it now. Every now and then I revisit it, and watch my old favorite episodes.
As for DBZ, I never stop watching. I played all the games, seen every episode at least twice, and I'm going through the series again as I type this, in another tab it's playing, currently on episode 151 of the second saga.
These are the only Anime that have ever caught my attention, and I will love them forever.
