All cutters say that "When I cut myself I feel relieved from my phsycological problems" when I ask them why do they cut themselves.

I read a lot of posts on VT since I came here ( about cutting ) and besides cutting, their common point is "Being aggresive towards other people".

Do you think cutting helps you in short term but it harms you more in long term? Because okay, you get relieved when you cut yourself but it makes you aggresive and more stressed, etc..

Yes and no.

Yes, it harms you more in the long run than it helps you at the moment. I don't think it makes you more aggresive and stressed... it might add to the stress factor. But the main thing with self-harm is that you're getting addicted to this drug in the first place. I'm not always upset when I cut myself. Sometimes I just want to do it for no reason, because I'm used to it and mentally addicted. All it's really done for me is certified that I can't get at least half the jobs in existence and strained my relationships.

Depends on the person, most of the time it doesn't make you any more angry then you previously were. I know that in the short term it's a very bad way, but to me in the long term it has helped me to become less stressed and less angry, i found ways after self harm that helped me. Cutting really doesn't help in the short term, from what i've experienced anyways.

Yeah I think it does. I get agressive when I have an urge to cut but I'm surrounded my people, and I can't wait to get out of there so I can cut.

When I try to stop I get more agressive too. But If I'm cutting on a regular basis (like now), I'm fine after I've just cut, and the morning after I cut, but then I get the urge, and get agressive again.

So yeah, I see where you're coming from.

But it's a bit more complicated than that. When you're deep into the addiction, you're cutting simply because you can, which doesn't affect your agression. But I suppose urges make me more agressive, personally, kinda.

Cutting helps when you cut, and no other time. It helps when it still hurts, or it's still bleeding. Afterwards you just end up trapped in thios cycle of self harm which is a horrible position to be in. I don't think it makes me anymore agressive... stressed maybe and maybe that stress comes out as agression.
