Hey New here,
I've always loved my education, even through i've been bullied through out. but now i'm going to college I seem to have a few problems.
I've been neglecting my college work because i've always been socially shy and my new genuine friends have offered me social experience's. I know college is there for more than just learning but i have like less than 80% attendance because of other stuff. *
Also, i've been talking days off because my metal health hasn't been in the best. I've only just faced some of the issues that have faced me in the last 10 years. E.g my mum having 3 mental breakdowns and my inability to get close to people. I've just been almost understanding myself.
But now i've come to a problem. I'm feeling better but with january exams coming and me missing so many days. I'm scared college would of had enough and that I may fail my exams. What can you suggest? I would say lots of work but i don't want to get as stressed as i was recently.
Anyhelp would be appreciated. :)
*- I have been part of the student demostrations in the uk and was snowed in last week. So they affect a few days of my education.

There are ways of getting in lots of work without getting stressed, overloading or failing any exams.
I do not know which subjects you're taking or your level in them, so I will generalise here.
You can't help being snowed in - so don't worry too much about that. Try and catch up on any work you've missed, find time during breaks to get hold of teachers and see if they can give you work you missed, or fellow class mates to do the same.
Slowly build yourself into catching up on the work you've missed - prioritise. Do the larger pieces of work over a longer period of time and try to finish the pieces that are in soonest first to avoid missing deadlines or becoming even more behind.
For exams, revision is key. As I'm sure you know, there's lots of different ways to revise, you just have to find one that works for your learning style and embrace it. Revise key points in each topic - don't try to remember EVERYTHING, this will only make you stressed. Choose key areas within the subject that are very likely to be on your exam and recap all the work surrounding those key areas.
Basically, you need to not give up and be persistent with your work. Even if you only spend an hour a day doing this, it's much better than leaving it all to the last minute and then getting worried or stressed because of missed work.
I hope this helps you! Remember, try to do little and often to avoid panic! :D

Hey!
Are you doing A-levels or a degree?
A-levels are all about independent learning. The text book will give you the bare bones of what you need to know. So, find the topic that you're doing and read over it a few times, doing some of the exercises. You should start to catch up soon.
I, too, fell victim to the college parties etc. I used to try to remember that:
"Parties last 3 hours, a career lasts 40 years." And the thought of not getting into Uni made me go to less parties and nights out. Try going out every second weekend and sticking to it as best you can.
In terms of snow days: If the college is shut, you're fine. If it was open, they won't like that and it'll probably be an unauthorised absence. Check with teachers to get work missed. When the college is shut, check the Learning portal or the Intranet for work that the teachers want you to do.
And, the demonstrations are NO reason at all to miss College. Sorry, but they're not. Don't go to them. If you don't get the grades to go to Uni, then demonstrating is pointless.
Lastly, "Fact" talks sense. Listen to her! :D

If you are having mental health issues, go to the student assistance center (or whatever they are called). Sometimes they give free counseling to students. You could probably get hooked up with some tutoring there also.
I imagine college to be stressful...I mean heck, highschool is stressful! Talk to your professors there too, kinda explain whats going on and that you arent really a slacker. they may be willing to help you more in classes that way.
If all else fails, just retake the classes. I've heard some of my teachers talk about partying in college and having to do that to replace the failing grde with a passing one. I guess they cancel each other out? May take you a little longer, but its not the end of the world.
Just go to class! :)
