AVI to MPG or MPEG

Does anyone know of a good converter to convert .AVI videos to .MPG or .MPEG? Cuz .AVI wont go on my iPod

Anyway, if you have access to a Mac you can compress video into iPod format very easily, adn you can set the compression rates so you can have it at different qualities e.c.t.

I have used a program called Quick Video Convrter in the past...trial was free but then it was like $20 or $30 for the whole program...worked great but i dont need it anymore...i use Windows Movie Maker
