View Full Version : Gender Equality NOT Feminism/Masculism

Does anyone else agree there should be more Gender Equality, and less feminism/masculism?
I'm not a fan of feminism. A lot of the things they say and do REALLY frustrate me. Not everything is the mans fault. And if you bring in the topic about women not having the vote, that is pointless as that is in the past! Something else that annoys me is how women can get away with being sexist, and I do not agree with that. Fair enough, women were treated like second-class citizens in the past (and still are in some places), but thats no excuse to attack men.
A lot of feminist groups talk about gender equality, but really only talk about equality for women, and how men are evil (And before anyone says anything, NOT ALL feminist groups are men hating hypocrites, just quite a lot are). No sex is greater than the other. Women are just as stupid as men, and men are just as stupid as women.
I agree with masculism more than feminism, but thats probably because i'm a man. I know that masculism is probably just as bad as feminism.
Personally, I think there should be more Gender Equality groups, not just groups specialising in feminism or masculism. IMO, I think there should be a group where the leader is a MAN and a WOMAN (so, two leaders), or just not have a leader at all, which fight for equality for BOTH sexes, not just a single sex. Of course, there may be disagreements having a group with males and females, but I hope this would be more of a debate than a fight.
Does anyone agree with me? Or are there flaws in my ideas?

I agree as men can focus more on the point and women always seem to focus on the flaws so it makes the perfect idea but what would happen is that men are always going to vote for other men its a shame really.

I'm fully for gender equality, and also I go further and I don't like how we are so stereotyped (both genders) and are expected to follow some imaginary rules (girls have to be girls, guys have to be guys) which can fit into equality as well. I don't like to even separate the sexes. It feels more like we're different species with how society is today. We can't overlap. And that there are even two genders anyway. We are all the same species, and we do look and think very similarly if we were to look at it without the stereotypes. Who's to say men and women have to do certain things, act certain ways, think certain ways, just because of our gender identity?
I don't like feminism how it's played out in modern times though. There's still sexism for all of us, but I see it as very extreme behaviour over very little. I have problems trusting people of other sexes, but that has nothing to do with equality, just my own experience. In general, I don't see much wrong with either of us. We're both at fault though.

i think that it should be balenced and equality for everone. short and simple.

Although I think there should be equality in this world, I highly doubt there ever will be, due to prejudice and the fact that there's always going to be someone who doesn't conform to the 'rules' of society.

I think it's stupid to use the attitude and tactics of extreme feminists to discredit the movement as a whole. I think that socially men and women are pretty much equal...However, there are actually many cases where women are treated better than men and it think our society still needs to get rid of some of outdated gender roles and stereotype. Ecomonically there still needs to be work done.
But overall we are getting pretty close to full equality.

So long as our society is culturally founded in the faiths of Abraham there will not be equality among the genders.

You're labeled a monster if you should ever physically harm a woman and it is generally expected that men, in relationships, take all the initiative in various intimate activities.

Jobs:
I work at a gas station. There's about a 50/50 man to woman ratio and we all get paid the same. Yet, the men are expected to do more work. We(men) normally have to take out all of the trash (inside and outside), fix the gas pumps when they break, do maintenance work and go outside when some needs help. I can understand things like extremely heavy lifting but everything I mentioned can be done without much problem by a woman.
There's also the draft(which probably wont happen again but still).

The women and children first "rule," if you can call it that. For example, it was women and children first off the Titanic. And since there weren't enough life boats for everyone, a lot of men just had to go down with the ship, regardless of their ticket class.

Feminists don't really believe in gender equality, they just want to see women rule the world, which is just as absurd as wanting to see men rule the world. Both genders are equal, and legally it should be viewed that way.

Feminists don't really believe in gender equality.
That depends on your defintion of "feminist". There's stereotypes of extreme feminists that are hypocritical and want to be treated better. And then there's women who feel passionate about making females become equal in all aspects of society.

I'm talking about extremist feminists, the ones with short haircuts who go around trying to ban porn and talking shit about men. I do respect the values of the feminist movement, but they've been overtaken by their fringe members, just like the Republican Party.

I agree. One gender shouldn't be "better" than the other. Men aren't any better than women and women aren't any better than men. I don't see why this is so difficult for some individuals to understand...

Those stereotypes are furthered by the sexism that's prevalent in the Bible.

Both genders annoy me. *Ahem* EQUALLY. (:
Women: They wish to be treated as equals, when it benefits them. They believe that woman are the more strong and dominant gender, but when it comes down to the wire, the man is asked to do the heavy lifting, the hunting, the gathering, and the providing. Yes, woman get payed less than men. But guess what? The men do more work!! As stated above, I see the woman at the cash register most times, and the man outside bringing in boxes, supplies, sweeping, organizing, driving, its like come on, open your eyes girls, Please.
Men: Honestly, men annoy me just as much as woman. While the woman has to run after a baby, clean the house, drive to work/school/daycare, cook, the man comes home from work (most likely 5-7 hours) and thinks they have had the most tiring day in history. Guess what morons, your wife is STILL working while your sitting on your ass or going to bed. -__-
Sooooo, my answer? I don't think either will ever accept the others flaws if both of these groups (feminists and masculines) continue on, because just more and more stereotypes are going to be created. Best just leave it be. :\

The male does more work in some situations and the female in others, The male is better at some things the female in others. through evolution man became more adapted to do physical labour and thus is usually the more physically apt in the large muscle groups while women are better with the small muscle groups. Man is more suited in a particular intellectual field while women are more suited in a different intellectual field.IMO both genders are equally reliant on the other gender and therefore neither gender is better than the other.

Besides the fact that I have no issue with our current treatment.
Men and woman are so different, with exceptions of course, but as a general rule they have their own strengths and weaknesses.
The whole thing about the payment inequality, the only issue with that I find is the fact that if they are doing the same job, shouldn't they be paid the same amount?
Women are stubborn, and proud, and think they can - and some do - do the same job as the men. When maybe it is possible to do it, but to what cost? Heavy lifting for example, possible but the back pains will be monstrous.
Most men are inconsiderate when it comes to house wives, running around chasing children, keeping the house clean, everyone fed, all day, and then be expected to have dinner ready, and served by the time the man gets home. With no thank you, and just walk towards the tv sit on the couch, and not even offer help with dishes.
Then again, some women are fool enough to spoil their man like this.
This is a society filled with differences, and sadly equality will never happen to the fullest. For reason A or B, we are as equal as it will ever get.

That's the part of the bargain when you have signed the marital contract.
Since I am a naturalist and an animalist, I will take a few examples from the nature: The lion doesn't do anything, while the lioness does all the hunting and the caring. You see, the apes follow the same pattern. You have one male overseeing half a dozen of females.
It's all about balancing, to get it equalised. Don't like polygamy? Well, that's up to you.

I dislike feminism and masculism, and I am all for gender equality. Alot of people take it too far though, instead of saying 'Both genders should be treated equal' they say 'men and women are the same', which they're not.

Agreed. Both have their qualities, and some have their annoying sides. Its not like all men are annoying and lazy and tiresome, while not all women are naggy and annoying as well. We are the same, in the sense we are human beings. We are not the same, in the sense of the publics view on both genders.
