1) Get rid of what you use to cut. This is the single most helpful thing you can ever do in trying to stop.
2) Find a reason to stop. It sounds like you already have one and remember that reason whenever you want to cut.
3) Use distractions. When you want to cut do something else like drawing, writing, watching TV, talking to friends... anything.
4) Use alternatives. Instead of cutting try pressing an ice cube onto where you want to cut, or flicking a rubber band against your wrist.
These are just a few ideas. If you do an internet search on how to stop you will find more, and there are stickies in this forum that can help.
If you ever want to talk about anything or just need a distraction feel free to contact me.
Good luck :)

If you dont already, maybe try talking to a counselor or something? The icecube trick works well, So does writing in red marker on your arm or stabbing paper with a pen/ wood with a screwdriver. Google it. Sometimes keeping a journal around helps, because you can look back on it and find out what triggers you, if you dont already know and try to prevent that from happening. Good luck, I know you can do it. : )

I use the rubber band and I also have a bottle of puff paint I draw on myself with. In the light of my bathroom, I can still make myself believe it's blood if I stare at it for a while.
It all depends on why you self-harm in the first place as to what alternative you should use.

You need to keep your mind off the thought of cutting, so finding distractions is a really good place to start, anything you can do to take your mind off it is a good things.
Maybego out for a walk or watch a dvd, just anything to keep your mind off it.
The ice cube and the elastic band trick is also works quite well, as an alternative to cutting.
But like the others have said, have a look round on the internet and see what other ideas or suggestions you can find
Hope this hepls

Pretty much what everyone else has said; put away the things you cut with, razors, knives, etc. and find something worth quitting for; sports, art, music, etc.

I'm trying everything. It's an addiction but I've gone from big cuts to many small ones. So idk if that's progress or not but that's what I'm doing. I am doing it less and less so that's good. I just find it hard to see a positive escape from emotional damage. Cutting distracts my mind but hey, at least I stopped the drug addiction.

Your at least trying, your doing gr8 so far btw, i just stopped for the last time earlier last night its 3am here atm. I was forced to choose between keeping someone that I love more than life, or lose her forever, and be misrable, it was a rather easy descision. Honestly, I'm proud of myself. I did it. FINALLY. You have to have a reason to stop, you have to have motivation and if you dont have any, then it gets you nowhere, so you make your own reasons and motivation, do it for yourself, do it for a crush, do it for the future, do it for your parents even! Everyone cares, and it tears at people inside to know that someone cuts or hurts themselves. You don't want to be the cause of someones pain. It really isnt worth all the trouble, it solves nothing, replace that longing for pain, or that need for a sudden rush with love and compassion. Talk to a close friend you trust about it they would gladly be your reason im sure. The point is just get a reason, and make it happen, no matter what it has to stop, all you need is that motivation to stop and not give up. EVERYONE CARES!! Make it happen, I stopped it, so can you!
