They tend to be associated (more like muddled up IMO) with the Illuminati. The Illuminati's intention is to dominate and control the masses (even though I doubt they exist, but that's not the point atm), and I'm pretty sure that a Freemason's teachings and philosophies are on the contrary to that of the Illuminati. Their primary beliefs are something along the lines of charity, honesty, kindness etc etc. Tbh I could go on and on about Freemasonry - but to save me from rambling I suggest you look 'em up on Google.
