Recently the wireless router I use for internet has started stalling really frequently and today i've had to keep reseting it in order for it to connect to the internet again, it gives a signal out to everything but it's not connected to the internet. It's never really turned off but I don't think that's necessarily a need, it is however the standard router the ISP gives out, would a brand name router perform better?

Well... I used to have the same problem but usually I found that it's the ISP that doesn't connect properly. I don't think a new router would really be a fix. You can try with a new router and if that doesn't fix it, hey, you have a switch that can be pretty handy in the future. :)

It always happens to me, well...
Stalling is not only caused by your router. Sometimes, companies have net problems, it is sometimes because of the weather, or the servers are just overloaded.

My internet sometimes stalls for the whole day, but I wouldn't buy a new router. Maybe it will be okay in few days.

And oh, this is an advice for you:
Unless the internet light is on, you don't have connection.
All those WLAN and other connection lights don't mean a thing. If they are on, it means that SOMEONE is connected to it ( For example I have a range extender, since my room and the router has a lot of walls between them ) My range extender always says there is connection, because it is connected with the router, but with no internet.

Maybe I said wrong things because I have no idea if I used proper word but I hope you understod.

Trying your internet company also works, oncea while call them and they "clean" up your records, internet connection datas etc. and your iternet gets better

Yea that's what I mean i'll get the indicator on my laptop telling me i'm connected to the router but that doesn't mean the routers connected to the internet. I've heard that brand name routers would increase range of the signal across your home or whatever since people spend up to like £80 on them. Maybe it's just Europe having shit ISP's.

If the ISP supplied router is separate from the modem (Meaning, the modem isn't built in to the router), try removing the router from the network, and just plug the cable from the modem directly into the computer, see if it helps the stability.
If it does help, then yes, you probably need a new router.
If it doesn't help, or if the router is part of the modem, I'd call your ISP up and ask for them to send out another modem/router, as it's probably the modem causing the issues.

Nah, I live in South Africa... We in a far worse hole than anyone in Europe.

For instance: Our MAX line speed is 10mb/s in selected areas, most areas are 4mb/s MAX line speed.

Our average uptime is like 75%

Are you getting what you subscribe for, or are you for example registering for 10MB/s and getting like 4mb/s because that's what it's like in the majority of Europe.
