So, I'm planning on spending around (Not really over) $2000 to buy myself a laptop for school... If it wasn't for me being to lazy and not really in the mood for the frustration when stuff wont work on a MBP, I'm getting a Windows computer.

So I've spoken to my IT guy about laptops, he doesn't know that much about them.

So, I've picked the brands I'm not getting, so that leaves: HP, Dell, Or Compaq. (Yeah i know HP is Compaq)

Here is one, of the thousands of spec mixes i did.

Any good? (I pretty much just picked the pricey stuff :P)

Wait, doesnt the government give you those? :P

It looks pretty good, but you might want to see if you can get more memory, maybe 8GB of memory is better.

Looks good but I would agree that you may want more RAM, and personally I prefer Intel processors but thats just personal preference. I'm actually typing the on a Compaq CQ62

Are you sure you won't comsider a Sony? Sony is a very good brand, I have had quite a few of them, in fact I am typing on a Vaio right now.

The choice of a Turion doesn't seem really good to me - they tend to be less power-efficient than their Intel counterparts (but they're indeed cheaper).

You may also want to consider 6GB (or 8) of RAM - else, they'll probably fill both RAM banks with 2x2GB and you'll later be forced to scrap one if you want to upgrade it.
