So for Christmas, I'm getting a laptop, and I kinda like these two: http://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-Satellite-L655-S5107-15-6-Inch-Laptop/dp/B0041O427S/ref=pd_ybh_2?pf_rd_p=280800601&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_t=1501&pf_rd_i=ybh&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1CWAVNWQE045D42CPNZ9

Which would you guys suggest?
We used to have an HP Desktop, and it was amazing, but I'm new to laptops, so I'd rather not make the wrong choice.

The Tobisha, in my opinion, is definitely a better deal and it looks much better as well. It's cheaper, has a larger screen and hard drive, and probably doesn't come with all the crapware HP pre-installs on its computers.

The only laptop I've had experience with, is my friend's Vaio. It crashes alot, and it's tiny but heavy. v-v
That's why I wanted a 2nd opinion, my mom wants me to get the HP but Toshiba does look better.

I just bought a toshiba netbook on black friday...its not bad. Ive had an hp laptop too... but the battery charging part on the motherboard burnt out and hp said that i had to replace the whole motherboard so i was like "fuck that"...but it was still decent.

They're both okay choices but i say go with the Toshiba.

Nah almost all of them come with bloatware/crapware.

I say HP. Crapware can be uninstalled, so it's just a thing of NOT being lazy to get rid of it.

HP indeed, Toshiba is not as compatible as HP with Vista and other stuff. HP is more reliable

I'd say go with the HP.
My experience with Toshiba hasn't been the best, and they always seem very...bulky to me.

My parents had the same thing happen. I don't exactly trust HP at the moment.

HP is the mother of PCs, why don't trust them?
Toshibas are always slow and as the poster above me said, bulky.
Toshiba may have better quality, but that is when you look at the statistics, it is the brand that is important.

For example, ( this is not about HP-Toshiba ) I would rather buy a 1 GB Graph Card ATI than buy 5GB of any other brand ( except NVidia of course)

While there is some truth to your points...i wish less people had that mentality. If consumers were more willing to try out new things, a lot of independent and lesser known companies would be better off and have more funding to improve the quality of their products. It would work better for everyone because even the monopolies would be force to step their game up and also lower their prices.

If i may suggest an extra option?
http://www.amazon.com/Acer-AS5742-7120-15-6-Inch-Laptop-Black/dp/B003Y85J5Q/ref=sr_1_6?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1291422799&sr=1-6

The last edition of these was absolutely awesome i've played with 2 of them. And now they fixed the only gripe i had with em(the glossy back that only looked good in a shop window).

*edit - Maybe i'm wrong here but aren't ATI and Nvidia the 'only' manufacturers of dedicated gpu's nowadays?

Well, Apple was new. We tried it and now we are happy, we also tried others but eventually first brands were the best

Is Toshiba slow? Tell me this, is i7 on a laptop slow enough for you?

BTW, recommend apple and toshiba, screw Sony.

Acer's not that bad, I had one before I got my Gateway, but mine kept breaking down and eventually blew itself up. So Acer's good, it just won't last long.

This is the laptop I have now, you should check it out, I never encountered a problem with it and it always does everything I need it to.
