My question is: is it possible to appeal a grade on your report card and if you can, how do you do that?
I'm a senior in hs and for grades 9-11th I've always had a guy gym teacher and this year I have a female gym teacher. I've never had trouble passing gym in previous years and this year my teacher failed me with a 60 and in ny a passing grade is a 65. I went to my teacher at the 5 week mark and asked her why I was failing and she said it was because of participation. I told her I don't understand why I'm failing because I participate in gym more this year than any other year I've done gym. So anyways, I end up with a 60 comming home on my report card and my mom was pissed. I've gone to the principal about it and she won't let me change teachers and my mom made a meeting with the athletic director, principal and gym teacher. I went to that meeting too and nothing was really resolved. The teacher basically said that I don't participate to her standards. The gym teacher is a really athletic person herself. I participate just as much as everybody else in my gym class and some people don't even do anything. The teacher has her favorites. The grade I was given is not the grade I deserve. All my other grades were a 92-99. (Sorry for the long post)

You have to pass every year of gym to graduate. So I have to pass this year. But I was thinking you could Eventually take it to the superindentant. But I wasn't sure if he would do anything or not/:

Supers don't care about individual students.

Just first marking period though. Make a point to pass (suck up if you have to) and you should be fine

I'm a protest-minded person, so I'd say to make a fuss about it. This gym teacher seems to be abusing her power and carelessly putting a student's (your) academic future in danger. It's unacceptable, and you shouldn't stand for it.

Even if you decide to go on protesting, at least try to put all your effort into gym. If you overexceed, even become a teacher's pet, it'll show how much of a douche your gym teacher really is, possibly heightening your chances of getting that grade changed.
