So I told my Mom about my depression of 3-4 years, my cutting, my suicide attempts and we finally had the sex talk lol

I told her that my depression stems from the sweaty hands and so does my cutting. I also told her that my suicide attempts are from the same problem.

At first we talked about the possibility of surgery and she was reluctant at first. But when I told her I wanted anti-depressant pills she knew it was bothering me a whole lot more.

She used to work as... I'm not sure what it is but she had to help mentally ill children in a home. So I asked her what kinds of kids she worked with. She listed some of them off for me. She said Abused kids, depressed kids, cutters, suicidal kids and a few others.

I asked her how she helped the cutters and she said that you have to talk with them and figure out the reason they cut themselves. Then I asked her how she helped the suicidal kids and she said that you have to find out why the are suicidal and then try to help them find something to hold onto.

I asked her if she ever cut or tried to kill herself, she said yes to both of them. Even I was a bit taken back when she told me. So I lifted up my sleeves and showed her my cuts. Then I told her about some of my suicide attempts.

Then she showed me some of the faint scars on her wrists and about the time she collected a large amount of pills and tried to OD.

After I knew she wasn't gonna completely freak out I went and unloaded the shotgun. I was feeling really shitty that day, in anticipation to talking to her, and was gonna kill myself if she rejected my approach to talk about everything.

So now she is going to call my GP on Monday to make an appointment for pills and to discuss the surgery. She never once called me a freak or anything like that. She said that she loved me and is always here for me.

And about the sex talk... What size/kind condoms should I ask her for? I'm 6 3/4" and idk what size to ask her for (and yes, she offered to get me some).

If you haven't told anyone about how you feel(i.e. depression, self harming, suicide, etc.), I recommend you do. I instantly felt loads better and not as alone. Even if the person isn't a parent, even if it is just your friend at school or your school's guidnce counselor, TELL SOMEBODY! It really does help. So thank you Mom, thank you VT and all Psych. Ward Mods and forum users, I love you all. If it wasn't for VT, I'd probably be dead by now  If anyone needs to talk just PM me cuz I will listen:D

That was really nice to read, lol :) Congrats, glad everything's working out so well.

As for condoms, one size fits all mainly. Get standard ones :P

That's pretty great news, especially the irony of everything and I'm glad VT has been here for you to be of aid to help with your problems as that's what it was made for. We're always here to help when need. It's such a great thing when you have someone there to help you through everything. It's such a scary thing to think that you might have to go it alone with all of your problems. Especially from a parent that took a lot of courage to come forward about that so it's very positive that she's willing to help you without a fit or forceful/fearful actions. I hope that in the future that you find the full support from the surgery and the medication and you feel the utmost happiness in your life. Remember; Life's always worth living for, even if there isn't always a reason, you will always have a purpose and a chance. You just have to be willing and you certainly are. Congratulations. I wish you the best of luck in the upcoming future.
