should members have more powers to move misplaced threads into the proper area? I know how tough it'd be with P101 but there was a diet thread in ROTW which most members will have identified as misplaced

It could be very easily abused, and very often used wrongly albeit perhaps not on purpose. I think just reporting it and waiting for a mod is good enough :)

Giving members powers to move misplaced threads would amount to backseat modding. I mean what is so criminal about posting in a wrong place? The Mods move it, and that's it!

No in so many ways.

1. There would be fights claiming a thread goes to (A) and not (B) unnecessary drama is unnecessary

2. It gives mods work to do. Hence reason we have sectional modding so we can keep a close eye on separate sections instead of all of them at once.

3. Reporting is easier that way it can be moved into the correct place, no questions/debates needed.

3. There would be no overruling of staff members. If regular members had the power to move threads, what would be the point of moderators? A pretty green name and disciplinarian for the section? I think not.

It would be a good idea if it were a smaller forum, but Virtual Teen is just too large of a forum to be having members have that amount. Even if the powers were set to a post count I would still disagree with it. Reasons being: moderators are here for a reason.

You can already move threads. Just click on http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/images/styles/fblue/buttons/report.gif this thing and wait.

as usual, this could be abused....I know some people won't but others might/will :/

Not a chance this'll happen.

It's not needed. The moderators here deal with things very promptly and giving members something like that to control would just end in chaos if it ended up in the hands of a troll.

As Aaron said before, it will end in chaos. The moderators work as fast as possible on reports. It would be abused, and it really isn't needed.

I always thought about that Matt, in fact I think there should be a lower rank than "Moderator" or more moderators to do things more swiftly

Reports are dealt with as fast as possible, I don't think it would be possible to have them dealt with any faster considering moderators are not online 24/7.
