She's an American citizen living in Oregon, not Iran or some batshit crazy religious country like that.
A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of inciting religious hatred after allegedly burning an English language version of the Koran.
The 15-year-old, who lives in the West Midlands, allegedly posted the video, filmed two weeks ago on her school premises, on Facebook.
The video was reported to the school and subsequently removed, police said.
A 14-year-old boy was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of making threats. Both have been released on police bail.

It has just come to my attention that I said "Oregon", this is because I was reading another news article about an Oregon teen who tried to blow up a holiday celebration while writing this article, I apologize.

If she'd done it off school property, I wouldn't have a problem with it.
Still, this infringes on her rights slightly.

Normally, I would be outraged, but given it happened on school grounds, I can't say it's entirely unreasonable. Hold any opinion you like of the religion, but were I a Muslim at that school, I would feel (at least!) a bit threatened by such an act. The girl was making no point, and even if she were, there are better places to do such things than in a school. This article's title (assuming it's the same in the thread as it is on the site, the site itself isn't loading for me at the moment) is misleading.

I remember at the end of the last school year, many pupils from my year decided to burn all their school books, which included Bibles, and posted a video of it in YouTube. Did they get arrested, even after the school found out about it? NO. They just got a detention, and a bill was sent home to their parents to pay for some of the books burnt. Although, this did not happen at a school premises, but at someone's house.
Its a bad idea to do it at a school. Not just because of what book it was, but for safety reasons. Obviously she should be punished for setting fire to something on school premises. And it wasn't just a book, it was a holy book, so any members of that school who were Muslim might feel threatened by that........but being arrested?? Thats just ridiculous. It should of been dealt with by the school. The pupil should of been punished by the school, i.e. a temporary suspension for a week. Getting the Police involved is unneccesary.
Typical UK with its pathetic equality laws.

We still say "God save the Queen" it's just tradition, we don't necessarily have to believe it, it's just became a classic motto/phrase.

Yeah, I know God Save the Queen / King is a tradition, but Americans wouldn't consider God Bless America traditional

I really couldn't give less of a fuck about the phrase. I just don't like having it as a motto and on currency, "symbolic" it may be.

If you don't like it send a letter to your Senator and try to get him to bring it up, but in reality, it isn't going to change. It's a series of words, it only has as much meaning as you put into it. So don't get all hyped up over a little matter. I'm sure more people would be offended if it was taken away than people are offended with it being up.

I know it's something that won't change for decades, and I don't really care. Yes, I don't like the look of it (actually it's "In God We Trust" on currency), and I don't think it's representative of all Americans. However, it's not something I'm going to bitch about endlessly like it's some national crisis. That's the ACLU's job.

Speaking only for myself (though I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking this), the way you display nationalism on here doesn't make me think the better of Turkey.
