Ok so i know i dont have an ED,
But since i have been trying to quit my SH
i have been eating very little. Like today i have had a
packet of crisps and thats it. so thats 132 kcal. Im not planning
on having anything else to eat, it makes me feel fat and i like the hunger
pain. It sort of makes up for the pain im not getting from SH.
I know its very unhealthy but.. it just makes me feel better about
myself.

Reading this back i sound stupid. But i mean.. Is this a weird
thing to think? If i dont get pain somehow i need to get it another
way.

Sorry if this is in the wrong section. But i just need to know that im not going crazy.. even though i probably am :(

Well first of all, this sounds pretty much like the start of an ED. Although i've done this before. When i first started trying to stop cutting, I didn't eat anything for 2 days straight.
The fact you know the exact amount of calories is worrying, and the fact you say it makes you feel fat. Please try to eat. Eating disorders are sooooo addicting. What you felt with self harm is nothing compared to an ED. Ed's are so much more confsuing. get out of it NOW. please.

Thankyou. I have eaten a little bit more.
so yeah :/
I will try, but i just need to replave my SH pain
with a different sort of pain. Otherwise i dont think i will be
able to cope.

Thanks x

Well... this advice will be pretty contraversial but... Self harm is not as damaging or as hard to get out of as an ED. SO if you really must do one, cut. You don't NEED either. and you can get better from both and be free, but really if it's a choice between the two, I know what i'd choose.

Okay. I suppose your right.
Neither of them are actually any good for you.
Urgh. Oh well. I will just see how things go :/

Thankyou Kathy :)

No neither of them are good for you, but self harm doesn't take over your life and fuck it up as much as Eating Disorders do.

Yeah as Nicole said, try any other method but this, please. You'll regret this so much believe me. Just believe me on this one please Fran. :/
Press ice cubes against your skin really hard, or squeeze them tight. it hurts like hell but causes no damage.

You say you don't have an ED, but I think it sounds like you may.. I don't however agree that one is more damaging than the other, I do think it's easier to avoid self harm, by removing yourself from objects and whatnot, but food is everywhere and is essential to life, but I do think they are both equally as distressing and damaging. On that note though, it worries me that you are switching to hunger for pain, as it obviously is less damaging to struggle with one rather than both. If you try to use eating/not eating to SH, I feel as if it is almost inevitable that you will still end up not only self harming, but also with eating issues.. Please try to stay safe..

That is pretty much what i said as well as the fact that in my oppinion, eating disorders are more interfering in your life because as you said, food is everywhere.

It's my opinion that SH can fuck up your life just as much as ED's, & I suffer from both.

But that's just me...

I wouldn't run the risk of developing an ED AS WELL as struggling with SH though, you need to talk to someone about this, both of these things. Both are dangerous, and both can ruin your life...

Is it really worth it? That's a huge question you should ask yourself. I know cutting is just as much of a serious issue (I do it too occasionaly)
but imagine living with the need to cut, AND the guilt of over eating or eating the wrong foods therefore restricting you're diet and causing much more suffering which would probably draw you back into cutting.
Ice cubes is a good suggestion, those do start to sting after awhile.
Umm
You could also try drawing, some people find that drawing or writing helps to take their mind off of cutting and such, it helps release their feelings.

Exercising also releases endorphins which make the body feel better, so maybe take a walk next time you feel like you might be tempted.

Good luck, girl. I know it isn't easy at all.
