I need some advice. For work I have to wear short sleeve polo shirts, these are ok, they cover my upper arms so any cuts that I get up there will be covered, but what about my lower arms and wrists? How can I hide my wounds withought raising suspicions at work? I already wear wide leather manacels and bracelets which sorta hide my rists, I'm just really worried I'm gonna get in shit with work if they find out I'm cutting.

Wear long sleeves under polo. Make up helps a lot. Bracelets, watches can be useful. You can wrap your arm up and say you "sprained" it, or pulled the muscle badly. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the ideas, unfortunatly at work it's uniform and uniform only, nice idea though, but as for make up I'm a guy so thats a no go. I guess I gotta wrap up.

maybe you could ask if you could wear a long sleeved t-shirt underneath the uniform? most places are fine with it, if they ask for a reason, maybe you could say you have eczma or something wich you are embarrased about?

I'm afraid if I do that, I may kinda get myself fired, I'm still on my 3 month probation. As I lied a bit on the pre employment health questionare, it asked about mental health issues, counceling and other such things, and I said I have none, as I have never been diagnosed with anything or ever gotten any help (the NHS just like to shrug people who obviously have a issue off). So if I ask to wear a long sleeve top then I'm probably gonna get the boot, which I really cant handle right now.

why would you get fired? they wouldnt fire you for something like asking to wear long sleeves, as long as you are wearing the uniform aswell, you aren't hurting anyone. can i ask where you work?

I'm an apprentice plumber for homeserve, you might have heard of their office in banbury as you live in oxfordshire. The problem is they've seen me in short sleeves and know that there is nothing wrong apart from some old scars which I dont think they noticed. If I make up some bull crap excuse as to why I want long sleeves they will know I'm lying. I think I'm gonna pop in asda tomorrow and get some of those sprain arm bandage thingies. Then I can make up some bull crap about how I sprained my wrist and get away with it.

oh right, well then maybe you could just mention that you used to have some issues surrounding self harm, and you arent really comfortable showing your arms, you dont need to tell them you still cut, although if you wanted to tell them, thats ok too.

well like most other people said, more bracelets, and a long sleeved shirt under your polo. Or you could wear a jacket/hoodie if they allowed it

oh and say you want to wear long sleeves because your cold or are sick and need warmth?

It's no big deal to invest in some foundation/concealer. under close inspection it's not foolproof, but it certainly does hide it quite well if you get the right colour. And some of my male friends use to use it in school. It did work, so it's worth thinking about.

Are you allowed to wear a fleece or jacket or something?

Like Kathy said, are you not alowed to wear a jacket, as its quite cold here now, so surely you'd be allowed to wear a long sleaved jackt or shirt?
Or if not, I used some type of foundation once on my arm, it helped them to blend it a bit more.

I'm given a company coat but thats not really any use when I'm in a really hot house, it's kinda designed for working outside. I'll give the coat ago but I've got one of those sprained arm bandage thingies to wear to work tomorrow, fingers crossed the guy I work with doesn't notice..

what do you cut yourselves with, sometimes i feel like cutting myself, and does it hurt alot?

I'm sorry but I'm not gonna answer the first question, I realise cutting is wrong and although I can't stop myself I'm not gonna encourage other people. And does it hurt? No, when I cut I cant feel anything put a burning desire deep inside to want to cut, but as for actually cutting, no it doesn't hurt me.

If you wanna chat just PM me, please dont start cutting, it

there's this company that makes flesh colored sleeve things. they're made to cover tattoos for work and stuff. they would probably do the job for cuts and scars, and they usually don't look like you're wearing anything. especially if you wear a watch or something where the sleeve ends.

Ahhh, I will look into this. The bandage thing kinda worked for me, they guy I work with thinks I punched someone and hurt my hand. However coz it clings really tight to my arm the scabs get stuck to it and so when I take it off before I come in the house (people will get suspicious) I rip all the scabs off and start bleeding again. :(
