First of all... I love you.

This is all i have to say for now...
"Punk" Rock

I cant believe the mainstream garbage that passes as "punk" nowadays. There used to be so many amazing punk bands (Bad Brains (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tAJYARIngtg), The Wipers (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRa5BWOOGZM), Minor Threat, The Circle Jerks (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmSs_rMjJLg), Dead Kennedys etc....)

But now punk is Blink 182, Green Day, Sum 41?....WTF happened?

Yes I did, Tim. While their newer work is not, I think their older stuff definitely is.

The Offspring are horrible. My Chemical Romance is one of the worst things that my ears have ever witnessed. You need to go look up what Punk Rock is again then come back to this thread. Rise Against is easier listening punk because they're less into exploitation and what the subject matter is. They also don't have that lo-fi garage rock sound much. So, I don't like them either.

I agree that both The Offspring and My Chemical Romance are not punk. However, I think they both have a few songs that are good. Not amazing, but good.

Sorry OP but Green Day is a form of punk like it or not. (they were even around in the 80's)

I like bands with the punk rock feel, like the Replacements and Husker Du

Although their more of a Alternative rock, their chord progressions are like Punk Rock bands.

Buzzcocks, Undertones, TVPs. No question. Supported the TVPs at the 12 Bar Club in July. Fucking psyched when MGMT wrote a song about them.

As for the first two, I wouldn't call them pop (well, maybe the Undertones). I refuse to accept that hardcore punk is the only non-pop-punk subgenre, however.

don't know if anyones mentioned the clash, they're fucking amazing as well as the good old sex pistols and the Ramones. Shame there isn't any modern punk most "punk" these days is the likes of Blink 182 and Fall Out Boy who in reality are as punk as Justin Bieber.
