Who else here has devoted much of their life to playing hardcore Halo, surviving off of whatever food they can find? (Preferably Mountain Dew)

I love playing Halo, and I've gotten especially good with the Active Camo. I have strategies for about every armor ability in Reach. Here they are:

Sprint: Not much here, but I always use it to sprint away from grenades of people with dangerous close-quarters weapons
Armor Lock: If you know how to use it right, you can knock out people's shields, EMP vehicles, flip oncoming vehicles, and be invincible.
1)If someone is trying to splatter you, armor lock just before they can react and move out of the way, if timed right, it'll flip the vehicle or damage it
2)When near a vehicle, armor lock and let it discharge. This will EMP the vehicle.
Hologram: When under fire, hide where you can't be shot, then make you hologram move into the open in a credible place to stand. See where the bullets come from and fire at will
Jet Pack: Not much, use it to get a good vantage point, to avoid grenades, and to cross large distances
Evade: Straightfoward. Use to avoid people. Useful for dodging CQB attacks
Active Camo: My favorite. I use it to sneak around the map and find people who are unsuspecting. It is especially good with the shotgun, sniper rifle, and energy sword. Camping is available but not encouraged. If you crouch permanently, you'll never move fast enough for the camo to become ineffective (moving too fast makes you more and more visible) Remember to be very patient when using it.

What are your strategies for certain Armor Abilities/Maps/guns?

Wow. I just stake out and play Halo from 2-3 AM. I unfortunately can't make much noise because the Xbox is right below my parent's bedroom :P

Halo Reach, in my opinion is a decent game with alot of flaws. It's not your typical Halo because Bungie took the BR away and added armor abilities. Armor lock is ridiculous because it has no sense in its design. I've killed people while they were in armor lock, yet they can glitch it without any side effects. Sprint is useful because it makes the game seem a bit faster than usual. Hologram does not work at all, might work against noobs. Camo is useful but has several bugs associated with it. Evade is annoying but still useful. Jetpack is just weird because you run out of fuel too quickly, hit the ground and grant yourself a nice suicide. Vehicles are underpowered, power weapons are overpowered and there's your occasional blackscreen moment. I do like Reach, but I also feel that Bungie could have done a bit better with the overall multiplayer layout.

Drop shield- My own personal hospital
Armour lock- EMP DA FUCKAAAS, or work with a team mate and decoy the enemy
Jet pack-Jet around the map and get the drop on enemies from behind if they have a large drop behind them
and thats pretty much all i use tactically

*I like this thread, and I shall keep it open since it saves me remaking it so dont report this for a bump*

I'd beg to differ because my friend is amazing at all Halo games can be fooled by my hologram, especially when we first started playing Reach. He doesn't fall for it as much now since he knows how I use it, but I can still trick him with it with certain ways, and it can be very convincing in general sometimes. I use it unless I'm using drop shield.

Oh so many times playing invasion defending the core and had what seemed like 6 sword elites charging at 2 guys, pretty overwhelming trying to pick who to shoot at and who is actually gonna slash you up instead of shooting the holograms

I would agree with you on that, but I never use it because I have no personal need for it. We have different playstyles and I very rarely go negative on Reach. I play anything as long as I'm in a team that knows what they're doing. I tend to use sprint, evade or camo. Drop shield comes in only when we're playing Bomb or Flag gametypes. I do hate it when I'm on a multikill and another player screws me over by using armor lock. You do have to agree that armor lock is that one small thing (along with many others) that ruins the game.

I do agree. I hate shooting at someone for them to just use armor lock. It's annoying.
