First off: Speakers/Sound systems are not really my forte, so keep with me if I say something stupid.
I'm looking for new speakers and possibly a new receiver for the home theater system in my bedroom (I think its 13x12, filled with a desk, queen bed, massive IKEA entertainment center, and bedside night stand and a chest of drawers). I've had a Sony HTDDWG700 (PDF, skip to page 54 for detailed specs) (http://www.docs.sony.com/release/HTDDWG700.pdf) for a couple years now, and I feel I could do with more oomph.
I've found a Sony Receiver (http://www.amazon.com/Sony-STR-DH510-5-1-Channel-Theater-Receiver/dp/B0038W0IZO/ref=sr_1_16?s=aht&ie=UTF8&qid=1287788051&sr=1-16) and Yamaha Speakers (http://www.amazon.com/Yamaha-NS-SP1800BL-5-1-Channel-Theater-Speaker/dp/B001AVRD62/ref=sr_1_1?s=aht&ie=UTF8&qid=1290648563&sr=1-1) that seem to be a bit of an upgrade.
My problem is: According to the manual for my current set up, it outputs 133 watts per channel for the speakers, and the sub is 135 watts. The sound is good and loud, but I find that hard to believe. The Sony receiver says it outputs 100 per channel, and the Yamaha speakers say they can receive 100 watts per channel, and that the sub is 50 watts (Amazon says 100, Yamaha says on their website 50).
Long story short, if I get these, will it all work nicely and be an upgrade from my Home Theater in a Box Sony?
Sorry if thats a bit long winded... although it looks longer on the "post new thread" thing because of all the links.
