I'm applying to a volunteer abroad program for three months next year because volunteering is something I've always wanted to do. So it's come down to two locations. Laos (Asia) teaching English children OR Bolivia (South America) assisting in housing project construction for the poor. With those two options I have to choose a program to participate. I'm not sure which one though. Which one would you choose and why? Help me out :/

The housing project maybe. Depending on if you want to go into a construction or carpentry field, a few months of that would look good on a resume I think. It shows you like the work itself and are willing to get all sorts of education on it.

Obviously, if you would prefer a teaching field, choose the first option with teaching kids in Laos.

Thanks for the reply bru, well tbh my field of study at UNI is Aviation, so both fields are completely out of reach. I'm only doing it because I feel it will better me as a person :yeah: and it's something I've always wanted to do, but thanks for the input anyways.

I myself would choose teaching because I'm good with kids and horrible with construction. If you are good with or like kids I would choose the teaching but if not i'd choose the construction.

i think there both splendid ideas...but the construction on e is better in my option...im going build houses in Haiti...so i go with choice #2 it would be a bit more helpful if the people use it for good reasons

I'd go with what you feel most comfortable with.
If you are worried about your safety Laosians are actually very friendly towards Americans because during Vietnam we allowed a lot of them to come to America because we bombed their country so much (Cambodia and Laos were bombed twice as much as Vietnam).
Bolivia is generally nice, they are surrounded by US friendly countries such as Peru, Brazil, and Chile, and are becoming more like them and therefore us everyday.

Not to advertise, but coincidentally the TV show Top Gear (if you don't know its a hilarious British car show IMO) did drives through Vietnam and Bolivia so if you can find those shows on YouTube you could actually get a pretty good view of where you're going.
