What do you guys (and girls!) think about the Alienware laptops? i didn't know a whole lot about them other than they look amazing haha, but they have some features I didn't even know existed. Facial recognition instead of a password?! I'd feel like some sort of agent everytime I got on it, lol

Alienware isnt the only laptop with facial recognition. But, i feel that alienware computers are epic. They are a gamers best friend :D

Alienware is generally a gaming computer, from what I can tell and have heard. I so want one though. I'm not a hardcore PC gamer, but look at how sexy that laptop just looks on the outside. It'd be amazing to have one. I wish I did honestly.

Alienware is like Apple for the PC industry. Overpriced and underpowered. You'd be better off getting a regular laptop.

People might want an alienware because they look cool...but imo, you're honestly better of getting a custom case. A lot of them can look just as cool/cooler than alienware and you can have more power for your money.

EDIT: Oh! this is for a laptop.

Do you really want to game on a laptop? Its gonna be heavy as shit too.

Why spend 2k on a computer that has hardware worth half that price? It's pointless, just like getting a Macbook. If you're looking to save money (and I'm almost 100% sure you are), buy a regular laptop, like a Sony VAIO.

oh and remember, about £500 of that is the name your buying, its the prestige, not just the tools

Its worth it as it is hand made. It can last 2 years longer than your standard Dell laptops.

I recommend toshiba Qosmio. I'm using one :)

Ports, Slots & Chassis

* M17x Core i7
4 Hi-speed USB 2.0 ports
1 eSATA/USB 2.0 Combo (2-in-1 port) with PowerShare
8-in-1 Media Card Reader
IEEE 1394a (4-pin) port
ExpressCard Slot
DisplayPort, HDMITM , VGA - Video Output
Front Speakers Audio Out Connector / Headphone Jack
Center Speaker and Subwoofer Audio Out Connector / Headphone Jack
Rear Surround Audio Out Connector
Audio In / Microphone Jack
Two Built-In Front Speakers
Center Speaker and Subwoofer Audio Out Connector / Headphone Jack
Rear Surround Audio Out Connector
Audio In / Microphone Jack
Two Built-In Front Speakers

You're having the capability for subwoofer. Those are pretty epic if you ask me. Though the computer itself is OUTRAGEOUSLY priced. I'm sure you could even customize your own laptop from Dell, or get it built by someone. You would or might pay a little less and you would get a much better processor than that rickety shit.

Well, Dell sucks :P

A good laptop from a real computer manufacturer (NOT DELL OR APPLE OR ALIENWARE) will last you a long time.

My friend got an Alienware laptop. He's like "DUDE! THIS THE BEST GAMING LAPTOP THERE IS EVER."
Must be some pretty nice Flash games then.
Too bad it broke. 3 times as a matter of fact. I don't like Dell. The thing weighs a ton for a laptop as well...
Overpriced and overrated. Like Macs, without all the white.

I'm fine with my Gateway laptop.
(Yes, Gateway still exists.)

I game on a laptop. Albeit, I'm not some hardcore FPS'er on the computer or anything. :P I play them strategy games, you see.

Have to agree here, better to go custom made tbh or go for a smaller company (my current is a Mesh, great value for money!)

Not really. On the rare occasion I bring it to my bed, but I don't that a lot.

they are over priced. you can buy the components and make your own much cheaper. Also, there are other brands out there. Now that Dell owns alienware i would not get the laptop they tend to have battery issues in the long run.

You want a real top-notch computer? Build one. Alienware is overpriced.

I never liked those things. You can make a better looking custom white box or whitebooks that even its performance surpass those Alienware PCs. You can save 2 Gs doing that.

Since there's no objections, this thread now rules that Alienware is in fact overrated and overpriced. :judge:

I mean I'm not a PC gamer, so there's no point in my owning one. I own a Dell Studio, which sadly is no longer made since the XPS took over which I think is better than a Macbook or whatever, but anyway I just wanted to hear what you guys had to say. :)
