physical fight with my best friend

my best friend was a guy named Eddie and one day on the bus someone was bothering me a lot and saying stuff that annoyed me(i don't know his name ill call him Phil). i was sitting alone and i had my books next to me and somebody took them (probably Phil) and gave them to Eddie and they were passing them around as if it was funny i wouldn't have cared much but Phil was pissing me of and when i seen Eddie had my books i got up and went to take them he was sitting down next to aisle with somebody next to him and i was standing in the aisle and i pushed his face over so i could get my books and when i got them i let go of him and went to sit down but he took it more aggressively then i meant and he got up and started punching me i grabbed his arms out of the air and when the bus driver hit the brakes i fell over on my back and just held his arms because of course i didn't want to get hurt and he was my best friend so i didn't want to hurt him either. then his brother Riley broke it up and we sat down and waited for the dean to get to where we were so we could be brought back to the school and then the came in one car and they didn't want us in the same car so we waited for another car to come. i was calm and he was to by the time the second car got there. then we went to the school and told the principle what happened and such. my mom came and picked me up. a few hours after i got home i texted Eddie and asked if he was ok, he said yea im fine that shouldn't have happened are you ok to? i told him yes and we were talking for like an hour or to as though nothing happened. whenever we seen each other in school we would talk to each other then the after the suspension was over i tried talking to him and i could tell he didn't want to talk to me so i went to class and i haven't talked to him since. i want to be friends with him again because it was last year in 8th grade in like march now its November in 9th grade and we still haven't talked we only look at each other in the halls and i can tell he is sorry by looking him in the eyes. i think that the reason we aren't friends is because of what other people in school would say if we were friends again but i don't care what they would say or think i just want my friend back. what should i do?

well i know i just have to talk to him but i dont have any classes with him and if i talk to him in the halls i bet he'll walk away again and i dont really want to text him because it seems like something i should do in person

well than try to find him after school and talk to him then. this has happened to me and some of my friends. we are friends again now after juust talking about things that made us friends at first like commen intrest and stuff like that. we never talked about the fights we had in the past though. now we can talk about them and we just laugh at them and how they started

Well, you could ask him if he would want to hang out after school one day. You must live close together if you ride the same bus; just try and see if he wants to hang out. Or you could flat out tell him that you want to rebuild your friendship to what it once was.

Why would people care if you're friends again? I mean goddamn, why do they care? Your school district is weird if you have kids caring if people patch up friendships after a fight.

hes got a point. people shouldnt care if you guys are friends again and if they do then if you guys are really best friends then you shouldnt care.
