If you have a choice, do NOT get a Toshiba laptop, haha. I just had one that got completely corrupted. It wasn't from a virus, it was just the computer. It corrupted the hard drive and the operating system, causing me to lose ALL files (i.e., homework, school notes, pictures, etc.). It sucks.

I have a Toshiba...
It's so good to me, I love it ♥

Maybe you're just unlucky. I've been told Comcast sucks. They probably do, but I have them and I'm one of the few who haven't had problems. Don't blame the company, they're not perfect.

Unless they made your laptop shitty on purpose, which I doubt.

Actually I completely agree. My dad had a Toshiba Tecra M5, didn't last a year. His company then went back to the good ol' IBM/Lenovo Thinkpads.

I'm just a super-huge Mac supporter, and I only bought that piece of crap PC to play games before Apple's MacBook's begin to get attention by game makers. But now I don't even play anymore, so I think I'll switch back.

I see. I hate Apple and everything associated with Apple. You see, I'm probably the biggest Microsoft supporter you can find, but I won't hold back from criticizing them too.

Don't overgeneralize PCs, I'm using one right now and it works perfectly. Perfectly. Almost a year running and not one virus, not one blue screen. No hassles.

I agree, tho this is not suprising... You'd be suprised what companies do to save a couple of cents

I beg to differ. :p

This.
In fact. The last time I had an issue with my PC wasn't because of Windows at all. The hard drive in it failed.

@ the op. If the file system became corrupt, don't blame Toshiba for it. While, yes, they chose to put cheap hard drives in their laptops, YOU chose to buy the cheaper laptop. Just get a new hard drive and slap Windows on it (Be sure to do your research, any ole' hard drive will not do). It'll be running like new in no time.

My old Toshiba laptop lasted me a good three or four years before it died on account of numerous hardware problems and trojans.

Indeed. The last time I had a problem with my PC was because my graphics card, which I definitely put a lot of stress on, failed. It was past its time.

You can easily get a good, new laptop (not a Mac) for $500, or replace the hard drive. Forking out $1500 for a MacBook will only give you an underperforming computer that'll be worth nothing in a few years. It's a bunch of mediocre hardware in a shiny aluminum case. Is that really worth all that money?

Hard drives are hard drives, I don't care how much you spent on the computer, or how much you baby it. There's no magic fairy dust that put on certain types of computers just because they're expensive or popular.

You clearly have no understanding of computers. Drives made by manufacturers such as Western Digital or Seagate will last a hell of a lot longer on average than drives made by Hitachi or Maxtor or other lesser known manufacturers. Western Digital & Seagate drives are just built to a higher standard than that of other companies.

The same arguement can be made about cars, or even houses. It matters who makes your car, it matters who built your house, it matters who makes your hard drive.

i had the same problem. only difference is that it's a serverboard(which i use as a pc).

my drive failed either because of overheating or vibration.
15GB maxtor IDE. lasted for 'bout a month...
